bought my 240 today

its Just got back from orlando with my new 92 240sx hatchback!! Its an absolute blast to drive even with the stock suspention...Needs a tune-up but its still alot faster than my swapped hatch was! On the bridge on the way home opened it up for a few seconds and it climbed instantly to 110 and I let off...bottomline here Im in love...Its wet outside right now and Im going crazy Im not going to hit a parking lot till I get my license straightened out...definetly the funnest car I have ever driven....

BTW It has a twin cam engine But how can I tell if it has lsd?

if its a super hicas you have lsd, if not then probably not unless the previous owner installed one.

well the super hicas editions came with "super hicas" trim on the sides of the car. also came with rear wheel steering. easiest way to tell other than exterior badging is by poping hood and looking on passenger side firewall for huge ABS block. its pretty obvious if its a hicas or not. if your not sure, it probly isnt.

congrats on the new car though. thought you were leaning towards a bmw?

yeah I was but I bought what I could afford...when I buy my bimmer I want to spend more than a couple grand;)

how can you tell if it has a swapped in VLSD. are there any stampings on the pumpkin housing or anything?

Well, usually when you swap in a J30, Z32, or S14 diff, people use the stock rear cover. Basically there's no external way of telling. Just spin the tires and count the stripes.

you can tell if it has an lsd by doing a nice standing power brake. if you leave two marks you have an lsd. if its a one tire fire, well you know you don't.

ok i just thought they had a couple of 'V's stamped on the housing like the one at my garage thats a VLSD.

There should be a orange sticker next to the fill in whole in the pumpkin it says VLSD, or the easiest way is what bill said, but if you have time lift the car and turn your tire if they both turn the same way bang you are set if they spin in different possitions you are screw start looking for one.
