View Full Version : help wiring my sub, and visors
i called treo and the guy there is a real ass and its always the same guy. talk about a shitty job. but anyway. he was no help. he said if i told u youd jsut get confused, he didnt even try to explain. i told him what amp i have mmats d300hc and what speaker Treo CSX . he said since my amp is for a 2ohm load, itd have to wire the speaker to Series Parrallel. my speaker on the terminals says 1.5 ohm and theres 4 hookups, all have +/- . i never seen anything like it. does anyone know how to wire this beast. im gonna take it to a shop maybe today and see what they gotta say.
next up. ill be placing my order soon for my visors. i talked to the guy whos gonna order em for me and he said he'd do it for 50$ a piece. i thought that was pretty expensive. i was thinking of doing it myself but im afraid to mess something up. i know some of u guys are in the audio buisness with installs and stuff so maybe u can help me out. im only buying the tv itself, not the whole visor and tv deal.
and to add to my post, he said itd need to buy a sorta of adapter for the tvs. he said since my headunit doesnt have some sort of rcas in the back itd only be able to see the picture on the tvs but never hear it. i asked how much this cable is, he said 50$!. i have a pioneer 6500. anyone know anything about this?

You need a FM modulator in order to hear the audio on your TVs. It's an adapter that runs from your source unit (ie, DVD player) to your HU. You then tune your HU to a FM channel and wallah, you have audio. You can look on eBay for them or check out www.SoundDomain.com. I've seen them for around $25.
If the screens have no mounting plate for the visors, it's going to have to be a custom job, which could be costly. $50 a piece doesn't sound too bad, it's probably around what I would charge. IM me though, maybe we could come up with some ideas and I could hook you up cheaper once I know some of the details.
Your amp is stable down to 2 ohms....mono or stereo? The sub sounds like it's dual voice coil? How many ohms? You got a site with all the specs or anything?

the guy at audio solutions drew me a diagram of what it should be wired as, ill draw a diagram and post later kinda tired. thanks for telling me about what it is i need ill look up on ebay now. and im u in a bit. they have mounting hardware on ebay maybe ill look at that too, but that site is ugly.
anyone know how to wire visor tvs up? make some side cash. let me know by tonight. how much u charge. beat 75$ and u can do it.

umm if you got the dual 2 ohm csx that sucks for you becuase it can only be wired to 1 and 4 ohm and your amp is only stable down to 2 ohms.....

is that bad? yes there quad 1.5 ohm voice coils.
also i talked to the guy tonight about my visors hes gonna do it for my price. so im glad everything is working out. i got the diamond plate today too and they fucked that up too when i got home i noticed so ill have to go back 2morrow hopefully theyll do it for free. it really wasnt my fault but it wasnt theres either.
this is how i have it wired now. i actually put it in the box last night to hear it for the first time, and the fucker is pretty loud. i just had it in the box not screwed down or anything. it wsa outside the car on the ground. and the terminal cap wasnt on so air was flowing right out. but it was makin the ground vibrate, pretty cool.

if you have it wired parallel/series it should be 1.5

no need for another terminal....
this would be a 1.5 ohm load dont know if your amp can go this low with out overheating or going into protect
yeh my amp has a protection mode on it that says i can use it lower than 2 ohms so its ok though i already made the other hole in the box anyway for the terminal.
