After attending a DGtrials DOF, it's pretty aparent that the tri-state area drivers are 1 up on the awesomeness factor:
$20 to get in, easy tech inspection, drivers that will smoke them non stop for the whole run!
I went down with a couple of guys from CT and we were the suckiest ones there. It was uncommon to see someone spin - hell, it was uncommon to see someone catch grip.

The most amazing thing is that NJ guys complain about such stupid stuff when there's a hundred TB kids who would die for the same thing.

With seat time like these guys get every 2 weeks, there's no telling how incredible some of the FL guys (and girls) would be. If you were here you would understand, but Tampa people NEED to find some place that will hold drift events at LEAST once a month.

I do fear that this will never happen down here though, firstly because nobody ever wants to drive anywhere (it was 7 hours round trip through NYC for me and 3 other guys and was well worth it) and secondly because nobody seems to want it THAT bad.

Maybe I'm out of line, but if I am then prove me wrong.

seriously though. I love to travel. I used to travel to Jax or ATL to street race (I do not condone street racing, and I no longer do it).

But no drift car= no drifter....kinda simple there.

The E-town parking lot was gigantic - think Raymond James size. Thing is, they only used a space that was maybe 1000' by 500' and that's leaving a lot of room for run-off...

Was there a parking lot of any halfway decent size at the DDay 2 venue?

no parking lot really...

need to goto TampaBay Center. The mall has closed, and the land is going to be redeveloped. That means it doesn't matter how bad we tear up the asphalt.

and all this ish about ruining tires there....ya'll have been lucky....most of the courses that events have been held on have been nice to tires...time to tear it up.

Yeah, I'd say that the tristate area is a little bigger than the Bay area. Just by the numbers, I doubt we could have as many events as them. More people, smaller area. Who can afford that many sets of tires, anyways? Most of the drifters around here can barely afford to keep their cars running!

I think the key is that it was at Englishtown. I would think that they get a better deal on insurance (since they're a motorsports park) than a onesy-twosy event like around here. The biggest cost to an event is the insurance. That's why our registrations are higher.

There are more people than you think that would come down to a drift event. I know of 4-5 in Jax that would come down. (Already did). It is hard to get people to let you use there property and Insurance is so expensive. If drivers only have to pay for it, I wouldnt be suprised if the admission was like 150 each. When I went to auto-x there were 80 cars and admission was 25 so that is only 2 grand. I would think you would need way more then that for just insurance.

I think that Kyle and Eric at DG trials did awesome getting DD1 and 2 up. Getting events like this arent easy at all. And once we get some good places they should be able to be used month after month. I dont mind driving up to 5, 5 and a half hours. Miami is a little to far from Jax.

They dont' have to worry about insurance at englishtown. englishtown uses their own insurance. they really were just given that site as a gift.

Regardless of who is responsible, it would be incredably beneficial to establish regular events. True, E-town is a sweet setup, but is there not somewhere that will use its own insurance?

Someone had told me that there's $1000/day for a venue that will hold an event...

Who owns the Tampa Bay Center's land?

In a related topic, there's someone who is perspectively holding events in Southern MS, how many people would make that trip given that it was reasonably priced?
