It's actually alot easier than it looks. Make your box without a top. Make a template of the top area you want to flush. Cut that piece and use it as the top of your box. Not sure if that makes sense to you, but I've done this type of install on a hard top dsm so it'd probably be easier to explain in person. Let me know if you need some help or just want the entire thing done for you.

The sub box is what holds the top plate up...like a pedestal.

Beleive me..... keep your trunk space
I had to have mine made as low as possible so my targa top fits back there, and so i still retain my normal trunk space. In exchange I had to get rid of my spare tire. The top is just a plate... which over my sub/amp box (which are seperate...).. it fits snug around the trunk area so theres no play, but its easy to take out... ill show you pictures to give you an idea
warning.. shittiest quality pics to mankind.
this is just the sub box, formed around the spare tire well.

Yea its not too hard at all... when you see it it looks more complicated than it is

Basically. Just make the box underneath the height you want the top plate to sit flush with. Make your template as close as possible, you'll probably have to trim here and there to get it perfect...so start out bigger and work your way down. Use a heavy box carpet on the top plate and that should cover up and small gaps pretty efficiently.

yeah i have expiriance with cutting it to form the trunk with my car, its a pain and mine isnt perfect becasue we cut 2 pieces..one for the floor and one for liek 4 inches up and the trunk changes a little bit so the top one isnt perfect but its cclose enough...but yeah that sounds pretty simple really

Yeah. But think of the simplicity and ease. You wouldn't have to worry about a single thing...just drop it off in the morning, pick it up at nite, and it's all perfectly done. ;)
But I can give you some pointers, I've done quite a few installs in 2G's so I know them in and out pretty well. I did one the way you're explaining...two 12's firing up at the rear window, hatch sealed, and a amp rack holding two amps visible when you fold down the rear seat. Very clean and simple. I'd assume something similar would work perfectly for you.

It'd be atleast a couple hundred. More depending on how complicated you want to get. I'd be willing to really work on price with you though considering you're an ahq guy.
