Just got a call from a buddy of mine that's at the track tonight and he said they just announced that the track property has been sold to the Florida DOT. They said the oval track will be done for good at the end of the year but they are gonna see if they can rent/lease the drag strip from the DOT for another year if they can.

Can we all get a moment of silence.........:(

if this doesn't suck monkey balls....
Joe, sent Dave an email asking if they're going to continue the Stock Suspension, etc down at BMP next year/year after.. Curious as to what the response will be..

They've actually been talking about it for years and years, it got to where nobody thought it would happen and it was all just talk. Then BAM! I guess it's official now, that really does suck. As crappy as the facilities are, it's still our home town track, well, let's enjoy it while we still can............................. Progress sure can be a bitch sometimes :(

I talked to the owner last Friday (Todd), it's sold and the question in the air is if the are going to be able to lease the land from the city/county for another year. The issue is the fact that the city/county only had enough cash set aside for the purchase, not the start of the construction. It's possible that we may have another year, but nothing is set in stone yet..

this sucks i wonder what will happen to the stock suspension cars.i hope they still keep them.i know it took forever for them just to start the class..
they do need to drop the weight a 100 pounds for the small block cars.the big block cars deff have the uper hand
they also need to make it all slicks or all drag radials i think
either way it sucks damn hour drive will suck ass

It'll still only be 1/8th mile, they should make it 1/4 mile every once in a while.. it'd get some people out there. Todd didn't say as to if they were going to get rid of the class or not, but since there were 11 cars this time around I would figure that they wouldn't..
I'm hoping that they'll drop the weight to 3000lbs for NOS/Supercharged small blocks...

they should just make it a 28x10.5 slick.. that would be the equalizer...

why would you wanna do that? why not let people use the tires that they hook up best on? usually it is a slick, but i just dont see why you would wanna take away that 1 out of 2 options these guys do have. just my .02

Because then it would be a competition of "who can put the most power to the ground vs. who brings out the biggest engine.."

They don't limit the size of the engine, number of power addders, or size of the tire. The only restriction is 3200lbs for all.
I only think it's fair that they at least give the small block cars a weight break (say 3000lbs as I asked for). When you have Corky running 550ci, Tydesky running 600ci+ and, Tony (green older camaro, I think that's his name) running a 500+ci Big Chief motor, and I've got a 370ci motor (along with some others with comparable size motors) I would think that the weight break would be fine. Most of those guys are running either a 29x10.5W or bigger depending on what fits when it comes to tire size anyway. This is what I suggested to Todd, he's going to think about it and told me to get back with him in a couple of months. If they don't, i'll just see what Immokolee offers up, I know their payouts are much larger...

Don't get me wrong, not whining just want some parity...

i deff feel u them big block cars r fast and a 3000 pounds for small block cars would stir it up good or put the bigblock cars on radails and let the small block cars run slicks, they have to do somethng though..
also i heard wren is building a twin turbo bbc right now so.if he comes out we all might be in hell.also i dont think his nova front end is legal for the class but they still let him run.he also bought that yellow 69 camaro from acme so we might see him in that.

either way its been big block car winning most of the time.
and last year the small block cars were 3100 pounds and turbo cars were 3300 and big block was 3200 if i remember correctly

I know Shannon took ownership of a rolling Pro Stock truck chassis a few months ago. How long ago did he buy the Camaro?
