TRack Event # 8 / Help Pick The Format !

Here is your chance to voice your opinion about a TRack Event ! I have a few dates that I am looking at for our next event and I want to spice it up a little. The last one was fun but a little plain considering how unbelieveable #5 & #6 was !

While I have a few ideas I want to see what you guys have to say. Post any idea, post several ideas. I will use a combination of your ideas to come up with something unique. But please no off topic stuff, those items will be removed from this thread.

I am not going to post any examples because I want to see what you guys (and gals :D ) can come up with.

Nope, at least not from me. As long as i am doing these things on my own it will be at the dragstrip. Especially since we have more drag racers than anything else on the board. Heck I usually see people that do not drag race go to our events and have a good time.

If you only want to drag race, nothing beats drag racing at bmp.. Why fight it

may be break it up in to like classes so there would be better for some people and spectors no one wants to race a 10 sec car when they have a 14 sec car,also maybe like a big dawg shoot out,or take the fastest ricers againest the fastest mullets,i will think of some more and post them.

This is for drag racing only, if you want a road race / auto-x you will need to get with a admin and work out a plan. That stuff is not my thing.

I definitely also prefer it at night....I'm all for getting pics - but this time of year its going to get too hot to run during the day and get good times.

I like the idea about an import vs. domestic shootout....maybe have the top 5 fastest imports vs top 5 fastest domestics or something along those lines. The bracket racing is a good idea too....maybe that would clear up some of the shit talking between the imports and domestics.....

I think we should do a daytime run when its cooler out.

yes... hrmm and maybe have some designated camera men for the event... like on at the tree, one parallel to the cars about to launch, one mid way, and one towards the end... so it can be like driver's runs from different points of the track... and end each run with the last camera looking up to the boards... and then we can put together a hot ass track day video ... just a suggestion :)

Plentyof braking and you can turn either right or left at the end of the run off... :D
how 'bout something like the FFW/PRO classes do for the True Street.
Closest to 10.00, 11.00, etc. get's a payout..
I'd say a shootout type event as well, but the track prep would have to be there big time for that.
Not sure how you could enforce any limits/rules (if there were to be any).

Track event 6 which started at 5pm on a Sat was awsome despite the fact that I broke. Big turnout. I also would not mind seeing an event like that on a Sunday as most everybody has the day off. Heck on Sunday we might even be able to start a little sooner in the day.

1. We need a shit talking anouncer. remember back in the day at BMP those 2 guys would talk trash all night. It was funny and I also remember the stands having more people than it does now. Or when u write out your registration card put your screen name on it so people know who is who.
2. Instead of bracket racing have their personal best as their dial in.(I know I know) We have alot of sand baggers and liars on this site. But since there's no money involved(I think) I would HOPE ;) that their telling the truth about their ET. Then run heads up
3.Forum vs Forum????
4. I like the radial class, DR class, and slick class idea.
5.Keep the car limit to 100. Please!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;) :D

I was thinking the same thing, screw it, no water in the box, make everyone start behind the water box, if they roll through the box exactly side by side, throw the light, if someone's even a foot ahead of the other, make them stop, back up, and do it again until they get it right. Also we should have a class for those with the quickest car in their time range. Meaning quickest 15,14,13,12,11,10 and 9 sec cars.......

Spectators coming in on a different entrance is a great idea as well

I like Derek's idea of closest to the ET for some cash or prizes. I also like the idea of bracket races since this will be a better environment to learn in instead of getting thrown into the fire.

It seems like we'd have enough time, why don't we run multi-class event. Bracket racing, grudge matches (i.e. fun runs), top elimination, etc all in one night. Limit the number of cars per class and give a small prize to the winner of each class.

I agree with Mark...definately need a wet t-shirt contest. :D A foam party with glowsticks, Vicks VapoRub, and blow pops would tight too, dog.

I like the bracket racing idea.. would encourage more people to participate if they know they will be up against comparable cars etc..

You can have both.. a bracket group for the "slower" cars.
And then a all out shootout.. fastest imports vs domestic.

Have prizes for the winners.

What about a small area designated for swap meet stuff. Not bring your whole garage, but an area where people can bring a few things.

All the ideas are sounding real good so far. I jus think we need to be careful not to bog down the night with organized classes of racing and leave some time for those that just want to go and run their cars and not compete.

Woo, maybe I'll get to see a few of my highschool buddies throw some hands vs. grandpa in the Buick! ;) Anyhow, that would definatly spur competition, I thought that the 'class' racing at NMRA was really fun, we should duplicate that, mayhaps? Also, I'd prefer if it started sometime during the light hours, just for pictures sake and whatnot. Friday or Saturday would work best because no school for me and no work for a lot of people.

How about designating a couple lanes to cars that are 13.0 sec. or faster (or whatever time you want to make it). Kinda like the "Pro Lanes". I think it would make for better lineups on the track. That may also help the water box issue and the slower cars running through it.

There seemed to have been a lot of response last track day about how many slower cars there are. At least this way some of the faster cars would know they would be running a somewhat competitive race, rather than a 12 sec. car lining up to a 16 sec. car.

I honestly don't see this as an unrealistic request. The anthem is played before any other sporting event/race, so why would it cause a problem, and if it does, that's a damn shame. I remember going to an import event at moroso a few years ago and they didn't play the anthem. I noticed it about half way through the first round and started talking shit, people around me started talking shit, and the next year, wouldn't you know, they played the national anthem. :grin: Probably had nothing to do with me, but I was the first in our bleachers to notice, so I'll take credit anyway :D

3. Separate spectator entrance.

4. Car count between 100-110.

What about a team race like in golf average best times. 4 cars 12sec under, 14 sec under, 16 under and a 16+ all on one team. break the 100 up into 25 teams it would eliminate a regular braket and get people to get to know each other. Have it somehow where everyone runs 3 times to get the times and then randomly put people together this way the dom and imp get to be together and cheer each other on. Maybe have the mods be one team and can rep TR and be the team to beat. then the top team will have the "title" until next TR event. its all about bragging rights....

al i like the street car shoot out idea to just not the part of u can only run in it if u drive your car to the track.i live in clearwater and it would mean i would have to stop for gas atleast 1 or 2 times then i would also have to fill it up with race gas.just to many miles and to much wear and tear for me.

best thing you can do is in the morning and break it into classes.................14 second cars with 14 second cars and so on.............if you guys are goin to charge just charge each car and classified each car on its category .....so they think they are actually paying for registration on that particular category....if u need help let me know

I think on top of maybe import/domestic grudge matches, also do a NA and forced induction classes. Or anything to set up races that will be challenging for both drivers.

Just be careful, I'm afraid if it gets too organized it will take the fun out of it. Everyone can do their thing, and I'm not knocking it as long as it doesn't take up too much time, but I won't be bracket racing for example. We're only there for a few hours, and if 90% of that time is spent paring this type of car with that type of car and bracket racing, etc. it might take the fun out of it for people that just want to go run and see/show what their cars can do. I'm sure there is a balance that everyone will be happy with, I just don't want to be waiting until my class is called, or have to line up in lanes 5 & 6 and wait 45 minutes while the bracket classes run, etc. That's why we have these events I thought, to take all the bullshit out of going to the track. If all the imports are in a lane, and all the domestics are in another, and you just race whoever comes up, I guess that won't take up too much time, but then you'll have domestics wanting to race each other, and imports wanting the same, that's why I am saying be careful, it could just turn into a big clusterfuck.

Truthfully, I don't want to see a wet T contest etc. at the track meet. IT should be about cars and racing, not about a bunch of ugly ass women thinking they are hot because they have "tig ol' bitties".

The less we show that we are a bunch of hooligans (sp?) out to party and do drugs etc, the more respect we get as a community and not as a bunch of stupid kids trying to street race and cause trouble.

Maybe we should do screen name stickers when we pay to enter though. Instead of putting your name on the sticker put your screen name on it so people know who you are. The GF and I have been to a couple of events and we kind of talk to the same people every time because we don't know anyone else, yet we all know each other by their screen names. Just an idea ;)

The Escort ZX2 premium was leather interior. They also came with about every option less air ride suspension that your "plush" cars came with. About the only big difference is the slight road noise you hear in the sedans, which is fixed with a little dynamat or something similiar on the floor boards and firewall. They stopped making them this year... It's not like they've been gone for the past 15 years or something.

Definition of luxury, hmmm wouldn't that be basically power everything in the car? They came like that. Power windows, power locks, remote keyless entry, power trunk, power gas door, power steering, power brakes, power mirrors, power seats, 6 disc cd-changer, child door locks, dual air bags, . About the only power I don't see here that a "luxury" is power antenna :o . Hardly puts these cars into the "econobox" no frills class now does it? I'm not saying my car wasn't built for economy in mind, because I know it was.
