I know, I know... this is the Autox/Road Racing forum. I'm even the moderator and should be keeping a lid on such conversation.
But the TR crew is putting on a test & tune at the dragstrip, and they're looking for more entrants. If you're like me and have never been to the strip before, it might be a good opportunity to check it out.
They've done it before, I believe this is their 8th one. Sounds like a really good deal as far as drag racing goes, $35 gets you "unlimited" runs... in reality, you'll probably get 10-15, maybe 20 if you push it. Not bad, any way you look at it.
I figured since there's no autox action going on here until mid-July, maybe we could descend upon this event as a group and have some fun doing the straight line thing for a change.
The event is Friday evening, June 25th beginning at 6pm.

Well, geez, if only people who thought their car's were special in a straight line showed up, they'd only have a dozen people!
I'll probably go. Been wanting to go for a while, just so I could say I did.

You'll get far more than 10-15 runs if you want them. There's never a line (except if someone breaks and they have to clean up/re-prep the track), and often times some really cool cars to see.

I'm with you there! But with no autox action here lately, I can justify it. It's starting to look like we might have a small contingent of Miatas coming out.

Yeah, whatever.
We're out to have some fun. The 1.6 guys are fighting to see who has the slowest Miata. :) We've got a guy with an M62 Supercharged Miata who's going out for the first time. That car should be pretty quick.
You're welcome to come out and laugh at us if you're afraid to run your own car.

You guys are boring me with your rhetoric. If you don't have any interest in attending this event, shut the hell up.

interesting. aparently you have not seen many american chopper episodes. they just built a chopper using the motor from a dixie chopper. faster than any of your cars. they are actually very fast. sorry you are not up and up on your lawnmower technology. however in the future i iwll try and not be a female hygene product.

I honestly have no idea what a Dixie Chopper is, and I don't watch American Chopper at all. Sorry. If you actually have one, bring it.
I really would appreciate it if you guys would tone it down a little. I didn't accept the moderator job because I wanted to have to moderate.

i really wasn't kidding. i do have a dixie chopper. it does about 32 miles an hour. will do a burn out and all kinds of funny stuff. i don't live in tampa though and its kinda a long ride on a lawn mower to bradenton from gainesville. go to their website and check them out.

i have a modified xtreme series.

Why does everybody rag on the miatas? Obviously never driven a spec miata or ran against one on an autocross course...
Good for you going to the drags - I think everybody should be required to drive 1/4 mile drags once in their life. :)

Umm, actually, Jeff and Eric (krekavhts and mofugga) are quite well established local autocrossers who know what a miata in the right hands can do.
They're just playing.
Loren, don't moderate unless things like religion, race, politics come into play. We don't need a nazi moderator.

oh, and the MR2 has been to the trip 3 times. Every run ever within 3 tenths and 3 mph and most of that came from using different tires. I know what it'll do, so I don't need to do it again.

I actually like Loren's version of moderating here
oh and BTW - didn't realize they were just ragging when comparing a lawnmower to a Miata...

We don't need the same people being buttheads in every other thread, either. 'nuff said?

i've driven a miata before. they are a blast. it was a 99 special edition i think. more fun to drive than my integra on the same course. i wasn't that fast in it being that I am used to front wheel drive and didn't want to push it to hard but its a fun car.
yes and take your own advice
