TA vs me

i'd like to thank all the guys from last night, most fun i had in a while...well anyway...set up a race with a bolt on 6-speed TA we agreed to a 55 roll ( i obviously would have preferred higher, but i agreed) from a 55 roll he jumps out on me a good car or so and we take off, right as im about to hit boost, he runs into traffic, cuts in front of me, and i cut that race short.... this time we line up at 65 we take off and we are right next to each other, the whole time im thinking damn that thing is quick, i didnt look down at my speedo but im guessing at around 150-160 i started pulling away and had to cut in front to avoid traffic.... it was a great race any way you look at it....but im still perplexed as i was not to impressed with my results....i look at my laptop, and i had accidently kept a trial fuel map open, not the one i had dyno tuned....so, i was like DOH, well either way late that night when i get home i go look at my data logs, turns out i had peaked at 15 psi and was holding only 14 throughout that run....im thinking to myself this explains why my car didnt feel like it was pulling as hard as usual, earlier today jacked up my car and check out the new dumptube i put in yesterday, turns out the vacuum line from the wastegate was making contact with it and put a nice hole in it... so i was only able to run spring pressure ( 1 bar/ 14.5 psi ), well im gonna tend to my minor issues and hopefully i should be out again next weekend, i'd love to hang with you guys again and see if i can fare any better next time :)

in that first race i never got a chance to be hitting full boost, (it takes me that long, talk about turbo lag) right as you cut in front of me i could start to feel my car pull....once you were in front of me i stopped racing, and just caught back up for round 2... the 2nd race was one hell of a race, i think you were next to me a lot longer than 110, much respect, because i think i got up to 160 and after slamming on my brakes i was still at 120 :cool:

Carlos probably didn't brake boost like most supras but who knows. I know I do and still learning but I still have to brake boost just to get anything or I will lag for a good 2 seconds from a 50 to 55 mph roll. When I ran chris a couple weeks ago, the video he had of us showed him hit it but you didn't hear a damn thing from me b/c of my lag :D. Its sucks but me and Chris need to run again b/c my car was overheating :).

thats because your turbo is grossly oversized, you'd be surprised how much nicer your car would pull if it had a longer powerband :)

Oversized maybe but I want the topend more so than the lowend.......I'm not sure don't will a GT25R keep up with me topend. With this setup and a different ecu, I can easily obtain close to 400rwhp (appro. 387rwhp).
I think you know who i'm talking about and with very good torque :D ;). Come on now, just b/c I don't want the instant boost doesn't make me or anyone else slow.........

When he cut over, we were more than 3 cars ahead, also there was no need to race any further, too much traffic. The second race was much much better though :D I would like to see a third one for a tie breaker.

yes it was one hell of a race! I agree! I love it when my car can hang with a high dollar supra at your own game, a high speed roll race. But; the fact of the matter is, that real racing starts from 0 mph!!!!! did ya know that? roll racing is ok sometimes, but jezzeee man, if you have to start at 65 mph to be competitive, THATS NOT GOOD!

I'd be willing to do a $$$ race.... best 2 outta 3 races takes it... here is the conditions.

First race from a dig, a DEAD stop, 0 mph!

2nd race, from 35 mph......

3rd race from 80 mph.....

what do ya think? I think this combo definitley shows which car is superior.

im down for a rematch we can do the same thing we did before, like i said for whatever reason (actually i know the reason, i burnt a hole in the vacuum line going to my wastegate) my car was only running spring pressure, 14-15psi, when i normally run 18 psi on pump gas, i know its only a 3psi difference, but every little bit helps :)

Carlos do you have upgraded fuel system with your current set up? With that 67 mm turbo you should be running alot better.

My current turbo is a 60mm and dude it runs way better than that.:cool: on pump gas. As far as lag I dont believe in it I have little use for it.:lol:

like i posted before, but i dont think any1 took mind to it, i accidently was running a test fuel map on it, i downloaded MTR's fuel map just to mess around with it and see how it would run, i forgot to load my fuel map that i actually had dyno tuned...so for all i know i could have been running really rich the whole time and been losing a lot of power, etc, etc plus at only 14-15 psi i really couldnt expect much, i have gotten that problem fixed and i've bumped up my boost to 18psi now...:)

Horatio - Will be back with the same set up, but different gears. Waiting on a clutch to handle the torque necesary to try to stay ahead of those damn red Supras. Thought I would have it this week, but no luck - its a Spec Stage 5 made a little differently. I WILL be out this Sat weather permitting at 8pm at Setser car show.

(sorry if this is old news....I just noticed him talking about turbo lag and replied...didn't read the whole thing...dial up sucks....)on the turbo lag........finding a cure???.........ball bearing turbos, nitrous, displacement, heads with a 3 or 5 angle valve job, lighter flywheel....Any of those by themselves or a good mix of em.....you get a supra, get a big turbo, you get lag...:)

same goes if I get a MKIII...I'll get lots of bonding time in the garage with it, and lots of down time :(

the issue i see is more or less, tuning, ball bearing turbo's only spool faster after the onset of boost, however the onset doesn't occur more than 50-75 rpm quicker than a standard thrust bearing turbo...nitrous definitely works :D
