My opinion on why a Supercharger is inferior to a Turbocharger

This is a spin off from another thread, and these are simply my uneducated underachiever's opinions, nothing more.
Firstly we have our standard supercharger.
Pros - no wait for boost (depending on model) decent power, and relativly unevasive install, roughly 6 hours.
Cons - upgradability is limited... sure you can get a smaller pulley, but doing so causes more heat along with the added pressure. Expensive. Very expensive intercooling. Lots of low end torque isn't always the best thing for a fwd car.
Here we have our standard turbocharger.
Pros - Extreemly upgradable. Inexpensive compared to a S/C. Cheap and effective intercooling. Ability to make lots of horsepower. Also, not too complex and longwinded installation.
Cons - LAG. Rebuilds. Can be unpredictable at times, especially an old turbo. More parts to deal with.
Why would I choose a turbo over an intercooled SC?
Because they can make more power.

doesnt a SMALLER pulley on a supercharger make more boost???
Maybe Im just retarded when it comes to superchargers....

1 point for me
also, I voted turbocharging for the simple fact that you have the flexibility of using different boost levels via a boost controller, some even using progressive according to gear to have a different setting in each gear to aid in eliminating traction problems... I also like turbocharging for the simple fact that there is no wasted power as their is with a supercharger that actually puts a slight strain on the motor by being belt driven, thus, effectively TAKING power to make power.... I also like having the ability to stay out of boost to cut down on heat, and get better gas mileage....

I chose turbocharger. They are more effiecient, no parasitic loss. They have MUCH more potential. Sometimes lag ISN'T the worst thing in the world. I like having the option to throw on a boost controller, and drop to low boost when just cruising around. It just seems all around better, IMO. Oh, and it sounds cooler.

ok cons and pros of both . ... as with a smaller pulley on a supercharger to raise boost. .. you said it raises the heat ... but the air becomes alot hotter when you raise the boost on a turbo charged motor also . alot of you dont realize you can weld a wastegate onto a boost tube on a supercharged car and use a boost controler like you would on a turbo charged car .... think about it
supercharging is great in my opinion ... on my corrado g60 i have 13psi at 3k rpm which makes 198foot pounds of torque at the wheels and is flat all the way across to 6k rpm where it drops off to 186 ftpounds . and what you said about intercooling a supercharged car is more expensive ? if its a roots type charger that is bolted to the intake manifold .. maybe so .. but if its a centrifugal or lysholm its just like intercooling a turbo car .. you can have a front mount if ya like .. hell i have a sidemount just like a stock dsm .
and for those that said they would never put a SC on 4 banger check out TYs scirocco ... a basic 2200 dollar lyshcolm charger (twin screw) with a stock motor .. no headporting ... some slicks and in the 11s right click and save as http://www.bahnbrenner.com/media/movies/tyfighter.mpeg
