View Full Version : One week left, are YOU ready?

Only one week left! woot! woot! Are YOU and your car ready for DDAY2? I'm not, but my car is. I Changed the engine oil, tranny oil, and diff. oil, this weekend. I need to get in some practice already. I've been watching and re-watching The Drift Bible to familiarize myself w/ ALL of the techniques so I can try various ones on different corners at the track because some of those techniques are way to dangerous for the street. I wanna drive my car at the track like he drives the AE86 on his video, BALLS TO THE WALL!

So what have you DONE to prepare yourself and your car for "THE DAY?"

Well I hope for your sake that your car isn't too neglected on its maintenance because I know driving around a race track at almost redline the whole time isn't exactly good for the car.

Tonight:
Installing NISMO two-way Mechanical LSD
New steering rack (thanks to Josh only1.3)
New tie rods

Sometime this week:
Changing oil, etc
Breaking in LSD

Friday:
Going to see Atreyu; From Autumn To Ashes; Eighteen Visions; Anterrabe. Hopefully that will chill me out so I'm not too nervous Saturday.

TNathe
05-17-2004, 01:23 PM
20k and 10k miles seriously? Please tell me this is tranny or rear end oil and not motor oil. If theres one thing I learned from racing motocross, preventitive maintenance goes along ways and saves loads of money in the long run as well as keeps engine performance at its peak potential.

sucio
05-17-2004, 01:35 PM
tranny oil gear oil..hahaha..im hardkore kneegro..it was motor oil..woo woo...the KA takes a beating and keeps on ticken..agemomai..he whitness my insanity..haha

Get working Steve!

On friday, I had a car with an auto and seized KA. I put in close to 20 hours this weekend with some pro help (thanks Matt and Tony), and it should be running wednesday with S14 KA and 5sp. It won't be drifting at dday2 because I'll be waving flags in the infield. Don't run me over!

I prepaired for dday by removing all the special suspention pieces my car had and putting the car entirely back to stock.

Other than that All I need is some decient tires up front and enough out back to last me the day.

you don't need fancy parts - go as you are and have fun!

I was ready until like 2-3 nights ago when my car started shifting hard...I couldn't get it in gear without trying to break the shift fork.

Well the S.P.E.C stage 1 ate its own shit today and well yeah, no clutch means no go for me.So either I wasted 75 bucks or I better get a fucking clutch in there like this week before saturday with a break in period or not....

I dont really care bout breaking it in because I am only gonna power over anyway so its no big deal if it is not like 500 miles or whatever...

Hopefully I can still attend and actually use my car.

Life fucks u over when you need something the most.

man I am stressed!!!! Here it is tuesday and my car still isn't out of the paint shop yet! Grrrr. They think maybe by thursday. What sux is, I still have to swap in a LSD, axle's, cooling fans, boost guage, alternator, and bolt the front lip on. I work everyday til atleast 5pm, and tonight I am doing a photo shoot with SCC mag for my green car, and thursday night is the perfect circle concert. So looks like friday night is going to be long and stressful!!!!! Hopefully it all comes together cuz I am ready as hell to slide.

Steering rack Josh gave me is bad. I guess you get what you pay for, even though he said it was good. Anyhow, if i don't get this figured out, I won't be driving in DDayII. Looks more like I won't be. :( Shit sucks.

why is everyone trying to slap together new parts on their cars a week before dday? Everyone knows shit happens when you try to install something that you need for an upcoming event. Just drive your cars like they are and do it after dday when your not in a rush and can do shit right.

zenki_s14
05-18-2004, 01:36 PM
damn seems like everyone is having some kinda problem.....i hope everything works out good for everyone....got four good tires only my back suspension in becuase the bolts on the front are GAY! but i aint gon stress it and just go out how my car is right now.... hopefully i'll pass tech....it passed last time...

BECAUSE I didn't need the rack UNTIL recently. It's not a difficult process unless you get something you thought was good, but is really bad. I would've just not even registered for DDay and bought a new rack so that I wouldn't have to get the car aligned TWICE. Believe me, I know I made a mistake. You get what you pay for. It sucks. And anyway, I wouldn't be able to drive in DDayII without a working rack either way.

TNathe
05-18-2004, 01:55 PM
Regina, I wasn't directing the statement specifically at you, it just seems like everyone's car is in the shop getting shit done to it. Don't you guys drive your cars, or are they in the shop most of the time?

If no one's car is ready that just means more track time for me.

Regina
05-18-2004, 01:58 PM
My car is daily driven and I'll be driving it WITHOUT powersteering until I can get the new rack. I can't drive in DDayII because now with the leak my car will not pass tech. If i get the new rack this week it will be installed with yet ANOTHER alignment and I will be at DDayII. If not, I guess my LSD that we also installed will have to be tried out at another event, unfortunately.

sucio
05-18-2004, 03:23 PM
its becuase we like to be different..some have way too many magnetic signs on their cars..some like to have bling some right shit on there cars..we are all ricers if you think about it..we are preparing to drive around in a circle to see who makes the most "Controlled" burn outs...so some of us like to go out there and put shit on out cars just for show..(pink wheels) (no bumper) ("im rick james bitch") its all about having fun...and then their are the people that are trying to get their cars ready for the physical strains...

TNathe
05-18-2004, 03:30 PM
^ Yeah I know this but why wait till the last minute? Go out like your car is now and then afterwords work on it and get it ready for the next event as far as performance and looks. This idea of course excludes preparing you car for, as you put it, "the physical strains" which I firmly believe should be done.

uh yeah my car isnt ready

you know its funny when you need $300 to fix your suspension and you scrounge that up
and as soon as you drop your car your stock tires are so high in your wheel well you need new onesand seeing as how im gettin 2 azenis thats already 100+, but then there is my exhaust.. the pr that owned it before did an over axle exhaust (fuckin dumbass)
therefore my exhaust is goin clankity clank all up on my rear axles
thats gonna be $150

then theres registration that isnt even paid for yet $75
glenns just got done with my wheels so that $200
and im without a helmet $100

wow $625

anybody wanna give me $625

didnt think so

so ill be spectating there only

but ill be sprtin the camry

im f-in pissed

either way see you all out there
