Since Eric was able to drift a G35...I wonder how a 5spd IS300 would do?

Any thoughts?

I've heard nothing but bad things about tuning a USDM IS300, mainly regarding the N/A JZ...

It would be hella hot!

Definitly, the japanese version has more tuning potential. Altezza has a 2.0L turbo motor. It's like an Silvia sedan!

I can see this post turning into a bench-racing thread about what motor can go into the IS300 - "3S-GTE man!"...

Really, everyone I've talked to about the IS300 says that it's the slowest heaviest sports car they've owned and not nearly worth the $30k + price tag. A friend had a red 2000 that he had put a considerable amount of work into and although he liked the suspension, the weight of the car and the lack of power needed to overcome it put him off to doing any serious performance driving.

They do have excellent balance and suspension design though, and with enough trips to Secret Services I'm sure you could get good power out of them.

It would surely be hot if you had the cash, but if it takes $10k to build a good drift S13, expect probably 3 or 4 times that for a pricey car like a Lexus IS.

It would be hot though!

I wanna wait until they cost about $10k. I'd kinda wanna put it on a diet and also get the JDM 3s. I like light before powerful. If the IS can be light that'd be great for me.

I don't wanna give up rwd ever. I gotta have some sort of plan because corollas won't be around forever. And if possible that plan should involve toyota.

the IS300 in japn is a N/A 3sge that makes 210 hp. ofcoarse people are going to put the 3sgte in it. and it would make a fine drift car considering i drifted a mk3 supra that weighed more than the IS. more weight just means you need more skill, thats all.

Bill: I think you're right on with that. That's why I don't want one now. Maybe in 10 years I'll have a little more skill.

Rising Sun EG6: I agree that they look nice drifting. Have you seen that video of Orido drifting a black one? Totally smooth.
