whats your favorite drift technique

for all the noobs out their here is a list of each one
Faint Drift
This is performed by rocking the car towards the outside of a turn and then using the rebound of grip to throw the car into the normal cornering direction.
Clutch Kick
This is performed by depressing the clutch pedal on approach or during a mild drift to give a sudden jolt through the driveline to upset rear traction.
Shift Lock
This is performed by letting the revs drop on downshift into a corner and then releasing the clutch to put stress on the driveline to slow the rear tires inducing over steer.
Power Over
This performed when entering a corner and using full throttle to produce heavy oversteer (tail slide) through the turn.
Braking Drift
This is performed by trail braking into a corner, then loss of grip is obtained and then balance through steering and throttle motions.
i juust like to hop on the train car and go where it takes me

whatever I can do to get sideways?

When doing shift lock I go from third to second all the time. I think I will have to learn a new technique because the track at Primus does not look like it will allow enough speed to get into third gear. What would ya'll recommend for a short tight track like Primus?

CLUTCH KICK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!or a combo of faient and clutch kick, shift lock isn't really a good technique to use. i would try and learn another technique. ofcoarse stock clutches don't fare to well under drifting conditions you are tring for the same efect with shift lock but clutch kick with some feint is a better way to get it done. just my opinion though.
i just do whatever. i actually dont have the energy to say..
just whatever suits the turn.. and for primus. just haul ass until ur rear end kicks itself out, thats what i plan to do

im just gonna nut all over my rear tires......

^ does that work?
Funk: Pray that when your doing your technique you don't understeer and take out that pretty tree or the nice wooden fence that's right there near the track.
I might get a little tree bark on my car, but eh, all in good fun.

faint drift sounds like it works anywere all the time, with if needed clutch kick.

Feint w/ Power Ova ... Maybe a clutch kick , or E-Brake thrown in if the cars not doing what I want it too .
It depends on the situation or turn . Different style turns sometimes require different techniques .

it doesnt work when you're already at the angle and theplace you need to be in order to start the drift.
bottom line is, all of the techniques are there because you use all of them in order to drive the car sideways. you can't rely on one technique and think you're good at drift.

feint or braking....they're the least violent for me, but usually it ends up being something like braking-feint-power or braking-ebrake-feint-power, or if I'm doing really bad braking-ebrake-feint-power-clutch-kick

Wait till the 22nd.:D
If my boy brian is there he will have the super mullet to drift. I dont know how well he will do with it cause I dont know how well he can slide but its a 331 stroker with a big shot of nitrous so maybe he will fill the bottle and waste some serious tire;)
You will see, that just because my car is domestic that it lacks nothing on your car except its a slightly harder car to drift cause its a stang and not something that is widely used for obvious reasons like weight and power.
I plan to have alot of fun though.See yaa there and o yeah.I have a helmet so dont worry bout it..;)

I hate faint drift. It sucks! Every time I try it I hit a tree or a damn wall before I wake back up. And the chloroform isn't exactly cheap.
[edit] "for all the noobs out there"
Jesus Christ people, it's "feint", like "juke" !
SHIFT_think
If I had a dollar for every time somebody regurgitated the techniques from another source... well, I'd probably have a couple hundred dollars... but anyway.
For the record, any good drifter will use most the methods, but my favorite is a high-speed "sido-long"... bombing down a long straight into a 30-40 mph turn.
What would you suggest a newb such as myself to learn on? I would think power over be the easiest. Though I have no clue as to where to go to drift. I'm a little young, and about an hour south of you guys.

ok some of you dont get what i was trying to do, this is your fav drift tech not what works the best. i know each corner requires different techs.

Well, as long as we're talking about our made-up shit, then I like the ebrake-manji-dori-feint going into a 2nd gear hairpin

Hey, I'm not making shit up. The japanese say side-long, and then I just JDM-dorifutoed it up with "sido". You want to make shit up, that's fine, but I was serious (by that point anyway) :squint:
my favorite drift is the 180 one u do when u go out of a corner to fast

i like to /\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/ down a straight then do a O then more of /\/\/\/\/\/\/\/ then a 180 into a bush.

i use mostly braking and clutch kicks, but mostly braking. the car is set up to oversteer a lot, so sometimes i can initiate a slide by the turn-in alone, only problem with this is that it makes it harder to get a decent angle without loopin it.

thats basicly what i do....cept my car isnt set up to oversteer...

a mixture of a feint and clutch kicking at the same time and every now and then e-brake it

my car is a heavy bitch and i tend to forget about the weight sometimes(end up looping out)
i like the braking(radical) drift the best. going from full forward to slow down to slide and go is the best!! i like fast lap times(so to say) and going fast so that is the quickest way aand my fav.
powering over is lots o fun too but i always get a heavy foot and spin:D
