how hard is it to install a basic airbag system into a chevy s10? a friend of mine may be getting a kit and he wanted to know if its one of those things the backyard mechanic can do with the right tools, or do most kits require welding/cutting?

evan talk to me tomorrow about this

if it is an air ride kit

the rear is pretty simple

it is the front that is giving problems. you have to plasma cut a not so the lower control arm can fit

ask me tomorrow or i'll bring it up

plasma cutter you have to notch out the frame if you want to go low or the control arm will hit

like I said the rear is easy. you have to take the leaf springs out

and in the same mounts you put the rods to the link suspension

and in the middle of the axle you put a triangler fixture for the middle

and install the bags, install shocks in the middle
don't forget because you are getting all this suspension play that you didn't have before you are going to have to make the brake lines longer, bleed the brakes again.

and that is only the rear

the front you have to take the brake assembly completly off, remove some of the plastic, notch out the frame so the bag doesn't hit, install shocks, I belive in the kit they provide you with new control arms (you are going to have to use new control arm) and then just install everything back.

hope this helps i'll tell you about it tomorrow

sorry it isn't the control arm it is the air bag itself

cause it has a wider diameter than the spring

this is the only kit I know about that doesn't require a c-notch

this is for the rear and it is $990
