I'm new to all the drifting but loving it all. I want to pick the brains of all you top dawgs out there. in all of your opions what are the best drift setups, considering availablity and price and all that. what would be some good cars to start drifting pretty much stock? also besides the famous 86 what other old school cars are good choices for drifting? I was out on another forum and saw that the 84-88 nissan 200sx silvia s12 is alil lighter then the 86 and is rwd. just wanting to know everone elses ideas and opions. thanx

I can personally say I've never drifted a car(yet) BUT I am the master when it comes to drifting a forklift:D.

if you want to go old school I always loved the Starion or maby an Isuzu Impulse. It has always been a dream of mine to do up a old school Impulse.

I seriously doubt the S12 is lighter than the AE86

Don't need power to drift - AE's are proof of that.
#1 thing is safety
#2 thing is knowing your car
#3 is upgrading your car when your driving surpasses the cars's limits

moffett,
would you be interested in a '91 isuzu impulse rs, turbo, awd,
stick for $1,300. it's white. almost 100,500 miles, located in
clearwater.
also i saw a starion for sale in spring hill, for $1,500, listed elsewhere.

too heavy. he's talking about something good to start drifting. that means you need a car that is cheap, reliable, easy to maintain and find replacement parts for when you crash into things and break stuff, and one that handles and performs well completely stock.
the 240sx does all of that twice as good, if not three times as good as any other car that you have mentioned.

then you have to fight the automatic transmission, the huge weight, the lack of aftermarket parts, and the falling apartness of any mid 80's car.

the s12 200sx is a great drift beater to learn on there cheap, reliable, easy to work on and the pars are cheap and easy to find. When I lived in Ocala we had a 200sx drift beater we paid $200.00 for that doubled as a daily commuter for my brother and it still drifted fine even after getting t-boned by a Rodeo. and If you feel like spending some money and looking hard you can find a V6 powered one but they only made them in 87, I think they also made a turbo one that had a ca18et engine in 87. but yea the 200sx is definately such a cheap alternative to a 240 or a ae86 that if you wreak it you wont feel that bad about it.
