Yeah i know, the prob wit their past subs is the dust cap kept flyin off. Their new amps are bad ass. A lot more power for a lot less money. They also made their amps a lot smaller but they weigh more

yeah, we just got in a bunch of brand new MTX stuff at my CC, we got the MXA4001, MXA4002, and MXA6001 amps, and the MZS1004 and MZS1204 subs. +1 the amps absolutely slam, we only have the 12 hooked up so far, it sounds awesome too.

changes in amps from the 2003 Thunder line: added a subsonic filter, added remote gain control, and in most cases increased watts

the MZS1004/MZS1204 replaced the 6000 series subs. they increased volume displacement by 41% and RMS handling by 50.

the MXS1004/MXS1204 replaced the 8000 series subs. they increased volume displacement by 30%

not to mention the redesigning the looks

no prob, in my opinion tho u prolly wont need more than the 6000 ones, we have one 12 hooked up right now and it slams pretty well, and ur car is basically a big sound box, no back seat to go through like me.

but since ur coming from the type e's...just save up a bunch of money and get truly bad ass subs/full system, instead of upgrading to stuff thats only a lil better, that ull wanna upgrade again later. thats what im saving for right now. trying to do it once and have it last.

hell yeah itd slam, esp in a car like an explorer
just to give u some info...we havent gotten info on ohms yet so i dunno how youd wire it or the ohm load youd have but heres the little general info i have...

the MXS (8000 replacement) 12's suggest 1.0-1.5 cubic ft sealed and 1.5-2.5 cubic feet ported. the voice coil diameter is 2.38 inches. the magnet is 93 oz. Xmax is 16.5 mm.

Price range i think will be 219.95 for the 10s and 269.95 for the 12s full retail price. beyond that, whether u have hook ups at citrus or whatever is all you.

By the way all this info is copyright MTX Audio and i only know it before it comes out cuz i work there :)

I've never heard that exact term before but Imagine it's just like an engine, bore x stroke. So cone surface area x Xmax. The total swept volume of air a speaker can move.
