I was leaning towards the Eclipse CD8454 but I also like the brand new Alpine CDA-9835. We just got the CDA-9831 in at my circuit city. From the pics, I didnt think the new Alpines would look much different from my CDA-9815 but I dont know what it is about them, it just grabs your eye and looks awesome. Nonetheless, you cant beat Eclipse's 8V preouts. Any other suggestions or opinions?

yeaaaah, see when i just search through all the nakamichi specs, and i see ones like the CD-700II, i dont know what to say.

Preamps:
Frequency Response 15 - 30,000 Hz ±1 dB (AUX to Pre Out)
Total Harmonic Distortion 0.001% (1 kHz)
AUX Input Level/Impedance 1 V/10 kohms
CDC Input Level/Impedance 1 V/10 kohms
Output Level 5 V Tone Controls
Bass 20 Hz ±12 dB
Mid 1 kHz ±9 dB
Treble 20 kHz ±6 dB

CD Player:
D/A Converter Type 24-bit D/A converter with 8-times oversampling digital filter
Frequency Response 20 - 20,000 Hz±1 dB
Signal-to-Noise Ratio Better than 105 dB
Dynamic Range Better than 100 dB
Total Harmonic Distortion 0.003% (1 kHz)

But the cheapest I found the CD-700II for is like $1200 ugh i might as well just save up and get it cuz ill regret if i dont, and it has everything i want including aux input and changer control for whatever i might want in the future (since it doesnt play mp3s i might want to add an iPod or something)

that is all

You can pick up a Nak for alot less than $1200 and still have a badass HU that no one else has....

link? or model number? or retailer? the Nak site only had 2 of em, the CD400 and the CD700II

cd40z or cd45z are there less expensive models I believe. I did some research on them a while back. From what I read they have great sound quality but don't play burned cd's(they might play them if they're burned at 1x or 2x), Which is probably half of my collection. I'm trying to 'buy' more cds these days just because the quality isn't there with mp3 converted stuff but I have so many mixes from the past few years that I would never be able to play if I got the nak. So I decided against it.

As far as what deck you should get:
Do you need MP3 or XM?
Are you planning on using the deck for all of your processing/equalization needs or are you going to run outboard stuff?

i might get satellite radio sometime in the future...Nak is Sirius not XM but yeah and mp3 os preferrable but not needed cuz i can just add an iPod with the AUX input of the MD-100 which im still confused about

can someone explain this to me?

What part of it did you want explained?

kpr10is
04-07-2004, 09:28 PM
so the MB-100 comes with the tuner and preamplifier unit but you still need to add the actual cd changer?....and with the 2 AUX inputs I could add XM and an iPod for example, right??

No it's the tuner/preamplifier and in dash 6disc changer( I assume that the reason for the seperate preamplifier is because the 6disc changer takes up all the space in there). But you can add an additional changer like this http://www.nakamichi.com/auto/musicbank/mf_51.htm if you wanted. There's also two other aux inputs for an Ipod or whatever

no, it wont be used for all my processing needs, ill have external amps for the speakers and subs

preouts are selectable 1, 2, or 5 volts? thats fuckin awesome lol

kpr10is
04-07-2004, 09:39 PM
ahh thanks...i didnt get that the 6 disc changer was in the dash, thought it was separate cuz i didnt think theyd make a single din 6 disc in dash changer. time for some price shopping for this one, it looks like what i need/want, then again i want everything, i change my mind like everyday lol

MDIFYTD

As far as the processing I was referring more to x-over, time alignment and such

kpr10is
04-07-2004, 10:04 PM
i dunno, ive changed my mind so much as to what i want that i really dont know...

even thinking about cutting holes in rear deck to put 6x9s since my rear speakers are in the doors

im gonna save money for a few months, hopefully by that time ill have looked at so many that i can narrow exactly what im lookin for and make an educated decision instead of buying on impulse like ive done before
