so did you guys hear about the kids that were arrested saturday night for drifting! You read that correctly. Car impounded, all that stuff. Same thing that happend to theif danny. I'd becareful guys, going out on a Sat. night to drift is about the stupidest thing I've heard of in a while.
Cops dont play around.
and you won't believe where he was drifting.
78TH ST! ?!?!??!?!?!

if you go out at all on saturday night your asking for trouble, wether your drifting or street racing. just having a shiney exhaust will get you pulled over!! like i said before, you have to chose your time and place alot better now a days. those guys were out at a notorious street racing spot on a saturday night, they deserved to get caoght if you ask me.

From what I know "drifting" goes under the racing statute so probably street racing. :dunno:
Anyhow, doing anything illegal on a Saturday night = highly unintelligent. I drive around Saturday nights all the time with a shiney/loud exhaust, but I don't get pulled over becauseI'm not driving like an asshole. I drive responsibly. :)

Its funny... they probabally only categorize it as racing because TR placed Drifting forum into the MOTORSPORTS section!
But on a more serious note.... I think its a great thing, maybe it'll keep drifting from blowing up into the next ricer fad, and then we can have fun in peace :-P

whoa, call out SWAT - get the choppers in the air -- people are DRIFTING!!!! National guard, Green berets, Seals, everyone.... attack the evil drifters!
<<better things to worry about, officer>>
well, drifting, in the cops eyes, can harm people, puts the general public in danger, puts buildings in danger, vandalizes property.. you know.. thats why they have a lot of cops. so some can bust down on the small shit. just because it might seem stupid to us doesnt make it any less illegal.

Sorry it took so long for someone to post up about who it was, I rarely check out the drifting forum.
To answer all your questions, it was Nate(Sidewayzs13) in his 240 DET. There were only 5 of us there hanging out and he decided to hit a few corners. Not even a minute after he leaves, he comes flying back, beeps, and 2 cops pull up right on us. We jump in our cars and take off, Silvic96(Danny) gets pulled over for the second time the same night, and we went to chill at 7-11.
Myself, our buddies David and Jay all jumped in David's car to check out what was goin on with Nate, and found him in the back of a squad car in cuffs, with 2 cops searching through his car. Needless to say, he was arrested and had multiple charges.
The only thing that sux is that Nate was contemplating whether or not to ditch the cops, hands down he could do it.

You guys decided to "hit a a few corners" at THE BIGGEST RICER/RACER SPOT AROUND HERE??? Are you fucking stupid. . . Scratch that, the answer is obvious.

No, not at all, doing something stupid is ALWAYS stupid, just because you don't get caught 9/10 times doesn't mean it's a smart thing to do?!?!?
I don't drift, so i'm not affected by this, but i can imagine that these people might be, you're going to have them associated with all the MORONS out at 78th if you keep this shit up.

You're so wrong it hurts. This certainly wasn't the first time someone got caught for drifting.

Sorry Regina, but this is the first time Nate ever got busted for having anything to do with any kind of illegal street activities.
I only came in here to let ppl know who it was, not to justify anything, lay off the flaming. But, in Nates eyes, it was worth it. Please pull forward and have your cash in hand.

Haha, I don't care about Nate. Good for him. All I'm saying is that it wasn't the first time and other people have set examples. It's good that Nate thinks it was worth it. It's not like he deserves sympathy. I feel no pain for people who put themselves in idiotic situations like that. :dunno:

thanks, i dont think it was worth it at all, it was an incredibly stupid thing to do and i realize that now. im not looking for any sympathy or anything like that, i dont deserve it, what i did was moronic and thoughtless to say the least. nobody was in danger but it was still a very bad idea and i can guaruntee it wont happen again. no more street anything for me, legal events only from now on. so how about that dday2?

Great response. It's goodto know you feel that way rather than proud of what you did. May 22nd should be LOTS of fun!!! One good thing about what happened is that now we have another legal drift participant!!

well, if you would choose a better time and place then you wouldn't get caught, but i know as well as any that sometimes shit just happens. and saturday night is the time when it normally does. but since there have been "legal" i've still gone out street drifting and havn't gotten caught. but i chose my time and place wisely. i think i hate cops more than anyone in here. i think they were all sexually molested anally buy a male family memeber when they were kids, but thats just my opinion, ehehehehehe

Under state statues, a drift is technically wreckless driving. and they were probly speeding. But I guarentee that he had done something more had something illegal to be put in jail....
no its called a display of speed. anything displaying your cars performance infront of people can be filed under streetracing. JAIL TIME JAIL TIME

Drifting is charged as "Wreckles Endangerment" - Just ask JAIL TIME JAIL TIME Daniel. All of us were there when it happened to him.

Only if its in front of people .. It's wreckless driving if your just "drifting" aka driving wrecklessly when the cop drives up ..
Wreckless endangerment on my part was telling hte judge I was doing donoughts in a wet parking lot etc etc .. I got nothing for it expect court fee's .. 25 $'s and no ticket ...
Still had ot pay 220 $'s to get my car out of impound because the cop was an asshole for no reason though BTW thanks GB
