Veterans is awesome! :)
Me and my buddy get on veterans at the van dyke exit. Low and behold a nice lookin Z28 with exhaust+ is right in front of us. After paying the toll my buddy motions to me to catch the guy and see if he'll play. After a short burst of acceleration, I was there. Side by side with him. I give him a modest grin, and nod at him. He nods back and I give him a little bit of my BE OH VEE :evil2:. He takes the bait, and the hit. I immediatly hit back full throttle and slowly catch up and pass by about a fender. He said to me "that car's pretty stout!". I explained to him over the low rawrs of the exhaust... "That was low boost." :) We exchanged waves and ran a 2nd time, but my fuel was being funny and we were almost dead even. The third hit however, I raised to high boost, 18psi, and my fuel. I ganked ahead of him by about a car before I shut down... I didnt add enough fuel and was running lean. I followed him off the exit and asked him what he had done, he said something about gears, and exhaust, but our cars were loud and I couldn't hear him. I asked if it was an LT1, he said no. LS1. :D
My kill for the week. :evil2:

It was a black LS1, with a Navy plate cover, and front passenger side damage. He looked early 30's.

You would have been destroyed by an actual LS1 Z. Z as in not Chevy.

Duh... but what was the point to your post? It was a Camaro.
I dont have to worry about said Z since there aren't many around here. :)

I've always looked at it like this...
280Z
Z28
280ZX
The Camaros have never been known as "The Z Car". Therefore, a Z is a Nissan.

WRONG
Z28 is an RPO code not a trim level. The RPO Z28 designates the Camaro platform as having the high performance engine/transmission/suspension options installed. While you are correct that the Z28 was never referred to as the "Z Car" it has been referred to as a "Z" since its debute in 1968.

I think they are talking about the first Z28 was before the first Datsun. Which really doesn't mean much.

WRONG
Camaro with RPO Z28 option 1968
Datsun 240Z 1969
Therfore Z28 Camaro, 240Z, 260Z 280Z
See how it works is 1968 comes before 1969...But you get the picture. :nerd:

Glad to hear that but it wasn't sold in the US. So that is really a moot point.

what about a ZR1 or Z06 do they count?
Cronic
03-23-2004, 04:49 PM
First Z28 = 1967
First Z Car = 1969,1970
Just to clear that up.
The Nissan's are and always have been refered to as Z cars. Not in my opinion. In everyone's including Nissan's.
Your camaro has always been refered to as a Z28.

OK, I say that the Datsun/Nissans have more claim to "Z car" "the Z" "Z" any way of referring to the car that uses the letter "Z". You can also describe a Z28 as a "Z", but I would do it only in the proper context or if the person you are talking to would properly interpret the reference. If I start talking to somebody at a car show and they say "yeah, that's my Z over there" and nod in the general direction of a group of cars, I'm probably going to be looking for something with a Datsun/Nissan badge on it unless I'm at "Super Shebby Showdown".
