View Full Version : Ran new Vette
This guy gave me a run in his new 2004 vette. good race we ran from 30 mph roll, we was side by side till about 90 then he very slowly pulled me, then we stopped running, he said to me that pretty fast for a 4 cylinder, I thanked him and told him I was running 6 psi and asked him very nicely, if he would pull over and allow me to turn it up to 10 psi.....He said no thanks, you would probadly wax my ass... he was cool and it was a nice race.
PS: I am running 6 psi because I run a 525 trans and if you know the mods I got.......LOL
Mike buddy The trans is starting to knock its time for the Auto to go in...:D

hehe....get elec boost control....crank it up on his ass from inside... :D
I am too cheap for that.
I will just add about 6 feet of vaccum line and run the controller inside the car that way..lol Hows that for cheap...lol

sounds like mid-high 12's to me... at least at that boost level...
I ran a Z06 vette on the bike from about a 40mph roll and I started in 3rd gear... we were dead even until about 110 mph and my bike dies about there... so he pulled away and said he beat me (he was a dick about it)
My bike SHOULD lay down a 12.0x at the track, or faster if I launch good and tuck good enough :)
I like when bikes dies at 110-120...thats when I get to play ketchup and pass :D

Just watch for boost spikes! The longer lines will delay the response of the grainger.
Are you coming to the TR track day 7? If you are running 6 psi boost and hanging with C5, you will probably be in the mid/upper 12's. That is something I would like to see a Turbo Dodge do at 6 psi boost!
I also use a bleed to ensure no spikes for me... and a few of those wastegate line restrictors and walla I get 6 psi instanlty...
Thats funny sounding 6 psi.... its really funny since I have enough fuel to run 22 psi or so., I have a Hybrid tuerbo on the engine that makes 34 psi, but thats too crazy for me and I am tired of changing engines and mounts every 100 miles..its just the trans guys, its not going to hold up...To be honest it feels like 280 hp @ 6 psi, thats what it pulls like, to me. and I smoked the same type of new vette but I was running 15 psi that day and really smoked his turkey, and he was a dick about getting beat.. but I really need my auto in the car before I go out and race it, the trans is already knocking and I kept up with the vette granny shifting and my buddy riding in the car couldn't beleieve we was still side by side with this vette..it was a story for the ages...its was perfect even though I lost..lol
I will post some pictures of my turbo and engine if you guys wanna see them?

i believe that boost gauge is off Levi, i would hook another gauge to it, my old CSX would keep up with a Vette but at 21 psi of boost.
p.s. the tranny is at the house, pick it up when you have the time, later Mike

Levi -
I agree with Mike......your boost gauge must be off. 6 psi in an 8V Turbo Dodge (no matter how modded) would be fodder for a C5 Corvette at any speed.
Also....the bleed type boost control system will give the slowest possible boost rise.
maytbe he wasn't running me hard?
I just raced a Nitrous injected Cavi 04 and he got beat by almost 10 car lenghts. but thats not the same.
I doubt if my guauge is off, your car is 600 lbs heavier than mine GLH-S. and I am running ported head and manifolds. Hybrid turbo setup, you have got larger injectors and that hugh cooler. than I do.
and @ 15 psi I smoked a Z06 so hard the tries would light up @ 80 mph in 4th gear when you floor it. and you said over 21, maybe mine is bad, I did blow that engine apart maybe I was running 22 plus...yikes...:?
I need more guages I run a pyrometer and it says I am fine, only about 1300..

Where is your pyro hooked up?
On srt's the engineers said they are more concerned about EGTs measured at the turbine inlet more than they are knock.
Anyways....just riding around my EGTs are about 1300F.
Wot goes up to 15-1600:o and according to them thats normal

What injectors and intercooler do you have?
I am running 20% over injectors amnd a Super 60 cooler, which sucks ass...
But keep in mind guys the vette did beat me, I didn't beat him..I just kept even till we hit about 90 or 100 and he pulled me like a little girl, so I kinda think he ran me hard, I heard him downshift.
PS: I have already smoked a SC Mustang 4 times in a row, he was one pissed off person, he just kept wanting to run and run again and run again.. its was funny, till I blew the engine up then he laughed @ me.
Also there is no way I can run 12s with street tires...maybe with slicks..
I like the Dodge section much better than the Mazda one here. At least I know you guys have fast built cars that you have created like mine.

I was with levi in the car when he raced the corvette. We kept up with him at 5-6 psi and he was not shifting hard either cause of the new clutch we hung with the guy for a while. If levi turned it up to 10 psi I think he would have won. The guy in the corvette was kool, he was asking what type of car that was cause he was inpressed we kept up.
Here are some pics of levi's shelby

I know the car looks like shit, but it really ruins good and surprises alot of V8 guys, its almost a joke now to run a stang even @ 6 psi.. I think I am getting 14s with 6 psi.
I know I ran 9.5 @ 73 mph @ only 3 psi in the 1/8 mile, don't ask why I keep it low, I am scared it will break and leave me walking. so I always turn the boost down. I know I am silly.

You profile says 7.2@92 / 11.9@120 so you must have turned it up at least once!

the old (lightweight) Shelby was 175hp stock, the Spirit R/T and Daytona R/T(hevyweight)were 224hp stock, but i see you remember them old little Mopars that were terrorizing the streets back in 80's and early 90's and still are :D

The CSX is almost done Mike and Larry.....Can't wait to be with you guys...I think I might be able to make it on the 7th with the car done. I might not race it though...Still have very little mile what would you say mike 10 miles if that. I got all the go fast goodies :D :D Before it's Done 125 Shot 17 psi, Spearco 1050 CFM Intercooler, Trim Cal, and everthing else Danny and Mike did to the car. and I'm ready to roll. Got to get that GLH Omin on the road. I see the Supra is sold more money for the OMNI.
