My 98 240's gone out of alignment for some reason or other. The driver front tire has 0 or maybe even some positive camber. It wasn't helping me take right turns at the last auto-x.
I don't have this car up at college, so the only time I get to drive it is on breaks, and I'm always driving it agressively. Since I mainy auto-x this car and tear around town when I can, what specs should I be shooting for when I talk to the alignment guy when I get a 5 year alignment thing going. That way I can go and get my stuffs fixed up whenever it starts to drift out of spec.
Stock suspension, driven in auto-x and round town, not too much highway. How aggressive can I go to maximize handling while not eating up tires around town? Give me some specs and I'll go for it.
Thanks

with stock springs, and not much adjustment from the factory, you probably just want to MAX out the negative camber as far as it'll go keeping both sides even. I believe 240s can probably get ~-1.5 degrees upfront and probably -2 in the rear. If that's the case, go for it.
Toe...keep it zero, maybe a hint of toe out upfront and hint of toe in for the rear. When I say a hint, ~1/16" is good.

You can't adjust the camber of the front wheels on a 240 with stock suspension.
Stock camber settings are as follows:
Front: -1deg30min to 0deg
Rear: -1deg50min to -40min

oem settings are NEVER accurate, even with brand new cars. The tolerances just aren't THAT tight.
And there's always slop in suspensions... just gotta know to pull really hard as you tighten everything back together.

Roger, it's time for a camber kit for the front.
I talked with the alignment guy, and he will hook me up with whatever specs I want once I install the kit and that'll be just cheesy when it's free. :D I got the toe specs set for the front and rear, and he loosened a screw in order to bring one wheel from -1.7 to -1.5 camber.
Driver front was at -.7. I'll post up the rest of the stuffs later on.
Let me know anything you all know regarding which camber kit to go with and stuffs in that subject. :)
Thanks

pillowball uppermounts with adjustable camber up front...not sure how much adjustability they offer with stock type suspension since I don't have mine on yet. In the rear, adjustable RUCAs. If you're worried about SCCA classing, these will definitely bump you to stx or dsp(?)....camber correction bolts will give you less of a change, but are far cheaper and might allow you to stay in a stock class (one of the SCCA nerds will have to clarify that one)
