Last night was my first time on slicks. Damn those cracks are scarey! Whats up with that . It would be safer running on the street!
Kept flooding out my best was 8.64 @79mph against a newer dark blue or black Z28. Is that someone here? If so nice run man it was a close one, but you got me. Next time I'm going to have to shift at 5500 instead of 5000. And I never should of put it in third. Wish I could of did some test & tune on test & tune night, but when you can only get 3 runs in its kind of useless.
Oh I was driving the primer AMX/JAvelin.

Nice run man:)
Can I ask if you have any mods. and what they are? Just wondering how my 30+ year old iron stacks up against the newer stuff.
I've got a low compression 360 with stock iron heads, cam, intake, and headers. Street gears and high stall converter.

03-11-2004, 02:29 PM
Ported throttle body, mass air work, airlid, intake (cut) MSD individual coil packs, wide-pipe, magnaflow exhaust, other junk but that is about it. does that make sense? I am also running on street tires. My 60 foot time sucks.
JavAllan
03-11-2004, 02:40 PM
I ran a good light on that race (unusual for me) and got a decent 60' (1.927), thats what kept it close. You came on pretty quick once you got traction and it shows with my 79mph compared to your 84mph.
Is that an average run for you? Or do you usually run quicker?
ZACSLS1
03-11-2004, 03:39 PM
Average. Traction kills me. I should have the drag radials mounted by next week. We shall see. It was recommended that I do some suspension work as well and I think I will do that. We will have to run again sometime. I plan to be in the low 7s in a month. Torqie convertor, 100 shot of juice and drag radials. What is your 1/4 mile time?
JavAllan
03-11-2004, 03:52 PM
I never ran the 1/4. What do you run? I've only run the 1/8 a couple of times. So I'm still a newb.
I'm in desperate need of front and rear springs. I think someone put 1 ton truck springs on the back at some point. They are sooo stiff.
I'm currently getting a set of heads ported and flowed. So hopefully I'll have them on the car in another month as well as rebuild my carb. again. After that I'm thinking nitrous also. 100 or 150 sniper kit probably.
I'll look for your car if I ever get to the track again.
ZACSLS1
03-11-2004, 04:11 PM
Well Good luck with the heads. I hope you can get that going. Careful on the Nos. I have HR springs in mine. Do you have your throttle body ported and have you removed the Screen? That is crucial. Little power adder. I have never done the 1/4 mile. I think I will do that in a couple of weeks. Come out to sunshine next wednesday and we will BS a little.

Hey zac I think I raced him in your car.
Thanks Show
JavAllan
03-11-2004, 10:10 PM
No throttle body work done. Its old school carburation. The intake has been ported and modified though. I'm just going to put a plate system in, if I can ever get the carb. set up right.
Probably won't be back to the track for some time. New job starts next week.
Good luck on your mods.

I am not sure about that I think he was 76
hey Vinny why not just get floating ladder bars, you would hook nicely I think right?:mullet:
TheShow50h
03-12-2004, 06:38 AM
Already hook pretty good. Last time out though I was trying 5,000 and 4,500rpm side steps, but the tires couldn't handle it and broke loose everytime. I spun my last run last time I was out and ran a 9.06 w/o power shifting and the time before that I hooked up on a soft launch and ran an 8.96.
WHY_NOT???
03-12-2004, 06:55 PM
damn nice run's Vinny, are you spinng even with the slicks, cuz if you are wow definatly time for the suspension lol :crack:
TheShow50h
03-12-2004, 09:41 PM
yeah, I've been spinning the 8" slicks off the line. The new control arms should make a world of difference though. I'm hoping for maybe an 8.7 ... probably an 8.8 though.
WHY_NOT???
03-13-2004, 02:52 AM
nice, but why are you only runng 8's why not 10's or 12's maybe?
