are people doing 2nd gear starts?

i was watching some vids and thinking about when i go to the track to watch it seems like first is super long on the hondas. do people actually start in 2nd? i know it's kinda dumb to ask.

If they are its not helping. Youll always get a better launch in first.

My Firebird has a button taht says, '2nd gear start', if that helps.

I think it just takes them longer to get to the shift point. High reving motors ya know.

there use to be a guy in a h22 del sol that launched in 2nd...wasnt a bad idea, bad tire spin was cured...but then again, he didnt need to do 5000 rpm clutch dumps to leave.

well that is just because us rice burners have different gear ratios and most have higher revs, especially the rotary's :crack:

i drive a import i never start in 2 gear i always start in 1 gear even tho i have a big traction problem i tryed to launch in 2 gear but it bogged down to far. all i needed was to get drag slicks now im fin comeing out off the hole. what movie did u see that on

Many of the big dogs with hondas have custom first gear ratios that run out to 70+ mph, but I don't know of anyone locally.
