hehe nice read, omg everyone has cool sigs now!!! lol
look mom i have a drifter sig!!!
hhaha thanx charles and jay, was a pretty decent article. interesting that orlando did it though, wished maybe tampa tribune or st pete times would have done something. maybe we can get them to invite someone out to maybe try a story on it.

no. dont popularize it more than it needs to be. its bad enough that cops already know what drifting is, dobnt turn it into a channel 8 undercover thing like street racing

no no no, popularize the hell out of it, secret services gettin props !!!! ;-)
the idea is to promote the shit out of it, get it OFF the streets, get more track owners to allow us to go hold events like DDAY.

just like club 1320 did for street racing right? there'll be more cops outside the event waiting for people to act up, give exhasut tickets etc. i dont want to be hassled any more than i already am

At least the article was written in a positive light, unlike the Channel 8 story.....

whatever, i think its going to be over exposed anyway cause of all the ricers. the only reason matt wants it out there is so SS can get more buisness, i can't blame him, but for the rest of us its going to suck. its really to early to tell.

First off, SCCA has had auto-x's for years, and alot of people don't paticipate for various reasons. Sure, Drift is more exciting, but I don't think alot of these kids will jump on as quick as you think. They'll talk smack and all, but that will be it. And the way I look @ it, those who learn now will be the Pros in a few years. The more people involved means more legal practices, better drivers, and more competition.
Sounds like some people here are scared of a little competition ;)

and forgot to add....when I start drifting (possibly @ an april event), I will own all with the suckage. Going FWD to RWD will be such a trip.

and did I mention that I haven't driven 5-speed in over a year?
they say it's just like riding a bike, but that scares me, cause I still fall off of the damn thing.

I think its a great thing, I dont care how many ricers are there, I know i'll always get VIP treatment from mattback and SS.. I personally think that cost will keep the main ricer population from doing drifting over a long peroid of time....

BMW 3 series. i didnt see anyone drifting a bmw.
i want more events. so i dont care what it takes to get more events. ive never had a problem with the cops outside of the drag events.

i think it will become a problem w/ ricers later on. soon they will start pulling e-brakes in the middle of the street. but for cops, i saw three different times cops clocking people leaving dday. i was by the back wall and the cop looked to only be clocking peeps leaving the parking lot.

Slow Kyle had his car parked out there on the side of the course....guess they thought it was a participant.

competition doesnt scare me, theres always soemone better. i just dont want this activity ruined too like street racing. the street races sued to be cool when i first started back in 95 thewn somewhere around 98 or so it went down the shitter and has sucked ever since.
now gandy is a neon fest with people setting up dj equipment and shit. its turned intoa night club
i can just see B2 having a bunch of fags in the back playing music and shit real loud and everyone just hangs around and noone does anything but talk. just like sat nights are at the races.
but shit, anyway you look at it, its going to go full speed within a year and get ruined anyways. time to start looking for the next cool fad to start

Hey, maybe we can hope that the street scene keeps their FWD cars; then when they fail misrebly at drifting they will go back to their "my wing is bigger" game. :)

i dont see how you think a simple article would ruin the drift scene
you act like its not published in every freaking magazine i pick up.
drift is nothing like streetracing
drifting is more complex than driving your car in a straight line
who cares if cops post up at the events and bust people...dont drive like an asshole on the street and they wont have any reason to mess with you.
only ricers get busted ....so be a mature drifter and keep it safe
Durdan

i am. you dont know me. my problem is i cant drive anyways as it is without getting hassled. cops have even used the word drifitng, etc. i just dont want to see some new expose about it and they form some 'drifting task force' like they did street racing.
its all about not wanting extra heat on us. we dont drive like assholes. we arent ricers. we are a group of mature people. but shit, i cant even go to my friends place on a saturday and go to a gas station to get drinks without being accused of being a street racer and given tresspassing warnings. its stupid.
i really hate how shitty tampa streets have gotten. all we need now is some assholes in hindas locking up their ebrakes going around turns and shit causing accidents. its just a matter of time untill that happens

yes taylor i know you....this is Tony...lol jackass
i totally agree that getting harassed sucks ass, but it has nothing to do with drifting being exposed....youre getting harassed from the aftermath of F&F
drifting is a lot different than street racing
not everyone has a "drift" capable vehicle...the street racing scene is ruined because everyone and their grandmas were racing what ever they had...from fucking mini vans to camarys.
the D-Day event could be compared to a 1320 as it was a trial to separate those who claim and those who do and those who just want to try. But unlike 1320 you didnt see vehicles that didnt belong.
like you I yearn for the old days, but its obviously not going to come back.
sorry if you took my comments as an attack..just expressing my thoughts
