Default Gen II racer 2.3 turbo ranger vs me

Last night I ran into a buddy of mine that has a 2.3 turbo swap in his 91 ranger. The motor is out of a 88 t-bird turbo coupe. The motor is stock except for a boost controller so that he can run 15 psi. We rolled of the stop light easy, we hit the throttle at about the same time, we stayed pretty even through 1st, he hit 2nd and I pulled a bit, then I hit 2nd and kept pulling. By 3rd, I had 1.5 to maby 2 cars on him. I was surprised, I really expected him to do better since that motor stock is supposed to make 190hp. Anyway, in a few months he should be able to get me, once he has put more money in it.

Good Kill.

Are you running a 4.3 V6 or the 2.2 I4?

LOL . I am slow, but he is slower. Like I said, he has a few bugs to work out. With the extra boost he is running lean, plus he needs to move his intercooler. The intercooler is under the hood with no fresh air getting to it, so it is really killing his hp. But don't worry, I bet he will be able to get me before too much longer. And when he does I will let you know.

SE-R how is the new Turbo coming?

"a few bugs"!!!! hell i've got some minor problems taking major tolls. running lean is an understatement, i'm getting almost no fuel, got servere heatsoak, restrictive exhaust and an injector harness "issue". this thing is nowhere close to even stock performance levels at the moment but give me a month or two and i'll be pretty quick. when i do, jeff, watch out man. j/k lol. it'll be fun thats for sure.

If this statement was remotely true or as bad as you describe, You would have melted the pistons by now, or at the very least, killed the motor from severe detonation.

Gen II You are going to be a good race when you get the bugs worked out. I do like the way the turbo sounds though. I wish I could afford the kit for mine.

I thought you had 2.5" exhaust on that thing. Get your intercooler moved by next week so we can play at the track.
