Definately had fun out there today(cept when I understeered like mad on my first run, my bad guys). Good group as usual, kind of big but manageable(gave me time inbetween runs for my azenis to cool down). Can't wait for the next one, even though its Apirl. :|

i had a blast, and i can't believe i left my traction control on during the first two runs! my ABS warning light came on after the second run. it's fun to autox on real tires for a change, and i'm glad i picked up a set of azenis tires. with the next autox two months away, i have plenty of time to get some new suspension bushings and do a brake job.

ya I had a great time getting a feel for my new suspension and tires. Definately made me a more confident driver today.

with the next autox two months away,

There are other sites and MANY other autocrosses between now and the next Sunriders event.

How did the S-2000 novices do today? Or did they all puss out, as usual, and not show up?

I couldn't get a parent to join me today, but I heard Scott did pretty well. I guess I will get into it more when I'm 18.

Course should have been nice and grippy with all that fresh rubber on the course from yesterday. :p

I had a pretty good time today. I hope I did pretty good overall. I quess considering I was in a truck I can't complain. I really wanted that 42 sec run but couldn't quite do it. If I can find a way to get the rear tires to hook better out of the turns I could probably bring my times down alot.

Xconz, I meant Dave. Why does he always say he's going to run an event and then never does?

Was my friend Cory there in a black VW GTi VR-6?

Sorry your parents couldn't help. You should maybe get the form so that next time you can just get it signed at home (or maybe pay $10 for a notary if Sunriders is skeptical).

Dave went to the Vinoy car show to see the Elise.
I'll try to figure something out.

Thanks,
Eric

There was only one s2000 there today. I wasn't able to stay and see how he ran though.

I can't believe your rear tires wouldn't hook up when you were on drag radials. ;)

You have to remember that I have a solid rear axle with no weight over the tires. Coming out of the turns even with those tires was very hard to get traction. Next time we have an autox you can ride along if you like. So how did you do yesterday?

7th in my class, 29th overall. Not bad for my 3rd autox.

Cool. I have been checking on the s10 sites to see what I need to do about that traction problem. Seems I need a good posi unit for the rear. That should help with the inside wheel spinning coming out of the turns. That was my first real auto x not counting the school that they had last october. Hopefully next time I can do better.

Man, i'm seriously jonesing now. I managed to get sick just in time to miss D-day and Sunday's autox.

Gran Turismo is no substitute for the real thing, even if you play for 7 hours non-stop.

yeah. i was torn as to which event i was going to run, and then this cold came along and made my mind up for me.

It's a bummer, too, 'cause i was probably going to be at SR, and from the course map, it looked like a pretty fast course for the space.

ya it was a pretty quick course, still very fun.

it was a fast course. at a couple of points on the course, i was near the top of 2nd gear, around 50 - 55 mph. and that's in a slow neon.

is this event open for anyone who wishes to attend and take a couple runs? I know I'll be SLOW but i'd be interested to see my car at its limits and what kinda skill I have. I'd like to attend a auto-X event... what should I keep my eye out for? Ive never been.

ya as long as you pay it doesn't matter. Just have to help do some course work and have a good attitude. Problem is next sunriders autox is april.

Blue,

Look in the sticky threads at the top of this forum, find the one with the schedule in it. Pick an event, check that club's website and go! Most of them are open to the public. All you need is a safe car, a drivers license and some money. (and sometimes a helmet, but many clubs have loaners)
