Lots of motorsports activity going on this weekend. If you're up for some low-pressure casual autocross, we'll be out at the college again this Sunday.
Once again, all the usual BS questions answered here:
Location is SPC Allstate campus in St. Pete. 3500 32nd St. S will pinpoint it on Mapquest.
Setup starts around 7ish. Help is welcome.
Registration 8:30-9:30ish. Be early, we have an entry limit.
Entry Fees: $25 members - $30 non-members (must be a licensed driver, minors must have a parent sign the waiver)
Lunch is provided (dunno what) around 12:30.
We should be done between 2pm and 4pm depending on how many people show up.
Loaner helmets are available, but in limited supply. Bring one if you have it.
I'm always happy to answer any UNusual BS questions, though you may find answers on the SunRiders Autocross (http://www.sunridersautocross.com) website.

Eh, I like slaloms, especially when I have a lot of space to work with. At SPC, though, due to the size of the site, a proper slalom almost has to be THE defining element that everything else is designed around. I was going for a little more speed and smooth sweeping turns this time. We had slaloms last time. :)

wow, i might actually get to use second gear this sunday. is the lack of a slalom to get people ready for the track event in march?
by the looks of that course map, some of the heavier cars may be spinning out while accelerating around the first 270-degree turn! i'll be sure to bring a couple of cameras for that!

That corkscrew is almost exactly the same turn we used in the last course only in the opposite direction. Yeah, some people (not just heavy cars) overcooked it on their first couple runs. Most people figured it out after that. Gotta be smoooooooth in places like that. Drive it like a skidpad, smooth and steady.
The event chairman initially just wanted to run that same course in the opposite direction for this event. I started to design that, but quickly got bored with it. The corkscrew was all that we salvaged from that idea. :)
I initially wanted to do a slalom, but I wanted a REAL slalom, 60 ft spacing, at least 4 cones. Couldn't make it fit without putting a TIGHT turn at the end of it. I opted for good flow and hopefully more consistent speed instead of trying to keep the slalom. Didn't have anything to do with the track event... though I guess it could be good practice.
wish you guys were doing it on saturday but i know there is another event there. I will be up in Z-hills for the PCA/BMWCCA auto-x.

We chose Saturday long before the drift event was scheduled. Just wanted to mix it up a little and do some Sunday events this year. A lot of our club members work on Saturdays and were unable to attend ANY of our autocrosses last year because they were all on Saturdays.
Sucks when local events overlap, but it happens. Have a good time up in Z-hills!
would have been fun to have back to back days though... understand i cant be selfish though :)

I am really interested. Whats the waiver like for the minors? Is there a way I can get it sigened before hand. I only have a month till im 18 then I dont have to worry about this BS. BTW This would be my first autox and Ive heard sunriders events are fairly good for a first timer. If I end up coming Ill be there early to help set up.
good event to start out on for sure. fairly slow track and very nice people.

The waiver is pretty basic. You're just signing your life away, as usual. ;) You and your parent have to acknowledge there is risk involved and we told you so.
Unfortunately, I don't keep copies of the minor waiver around. They're all locked away in our equipment trailer in storage over in St. Pete. You'll have to drag a parent along to get your waiver signed. Sorry, dude!

I'm in.. not sure what I'm bringing.. hopefully my convertible if i can get the battery secured down good between now and then. I think the sunriders regular ol' autoX is one of the few events I can run with no rollbar without a hassle :)
At least I assume so :D

Do tell... what happened?
Looks like a second gear course.
I'll probably go.
Last time the driver's meeting kind of dragged on. Maybe it was the 45* weather. I thought you said Sunrider's drivers meetings were quick and "to the point"?

I was road-tripping back home to Safety Harbor to print the stupid college forms that I'd forgotten! By the time I got back, cars were on course.
I think Don did the driver's meeting. He's a slow talker and tends to ramble. Sorry! We also had a LOT of first-timers there. If there are just a few, we can cover them one-on-one outside fo the driver's meeting. When there are 10-15 or more... you know.
if i get my head back on my car, im sure to go out there, <-- first time :-(

Did I mention that I don't do registration? :)
If you can arrange to get the waiver signed beforehand, you don't need to bring a parent. If someone let you register without the appropriate waiver being signed, they goofed.
This being an amateur organization, goofs happen in spite of our best efforts. We'd be in deep shit if we had a minor get injured at an event without the proper waivers on-hand, though.
So... as much of a pain in the butt as it is sometimes... I hope everyone understands.

We've had pickups out before. As long as it's not jacked up or anything, bring it on!
Or... tow your car behind the F150. We don't care if it's got a tag on it. ;)
