WHEELS AND TIRES:
___Tires must have tread at time of tech - This means at the beginning of teh event, you can not be to wear bars. If you are you will not pass tech. If you pop a tire you must immediatly pull off or you will be asked to leave.
___Tires must match if they are on the same axle.
Example front: 225 45 17 Falken Azenis RealSport
rear: 215 45 17 Falken Azenis SilentSport
Example 2:
front: 225 50 15 Yokohama ES100
rear: 205 60 15 michelin pilot mxm4

___All lugs present and tight - FOR THOSE OF YOU WITH BROKEN STUDS, GET THEM FIXED TODAY.
___Hubcaps/trim rings removed - We dont' need anything flying off while sliding around. Sorry, no drifting on 15 inch spinner hubcaps.

ENGINE:
___No fluid leaks of any kind - It can't leak for the two minutes I'm teching it. Maybe it might drop a little oil or bit once every week, but not while I tech it.
___Radiators must have an overflow tank - If it has a hole (every s13) TAPE IT
___Battery secured - no elastic cords - If you are one of those people running a captive assembly lawnmower battery, it better have some sort of good mounting so it cant escape. IF YOU FOR SOME REASON MUST USE ZIPTIES, IT BETTER HAVE SO MANY ZIPTIES TO WHERE I CANNOT MOVE YOUR BATTERY. IF I CAN WOBBLE IT BACK AND FORTH YOU WILL NOT PASS TECH.
___Exhaust well supported - Inspect your muffler. if it is wobbling around and escaping the grasps of its muffler hangars, then maybe you should purchase new ones. We dont need a muffler falling off and dragging all over the track. if it wobbles a good bit after a kick, you will not pass tech.
___Muffled adequately per track requirements - Luckily in FL, as long as youre running a full exhaust, the car can be as loud as it wants during a legal motorsport event. Full exhaust, ok, Open header or open cat will not pass tech.

SAFTEY EQUIPMENT:
___Roll bars in convertibles (helmeted head must pass the stick test, ask a tech!) Exactly, any convertibles out there have to have a good roll bar that is actually going to protect you when wearing a helmet.
___Soft tops must be down and secured - hard tops allowed - pretty self explanatory.
___Seatbelts for driver / passenger / instructor - self explanatory.
___Snell 95 or better helmet. Loaners not available - I Cannot stress this enough. Go buy a helmet from Automotive Engineering TODAY. No passneger no helmet. No driver no helmet. No cameraman, no helmet. If we see someone riding along with no helmet both that person and the driver will be asked to leave without a refund. We need to practice safety first and foremost guys. If you can, borrow a helmet from somebody in a later session!!
___Long pants, long sleeves, closed toe shoe - Nomex recommended - Closed toe shoe definately. Long pants definately. But long sleeves?? it's florida, it's friggin hot. We'll play the long sleeves by ear ;-)

BRAKES:
___Pedal pressure is firm - self explanatory
___Brake fluid level good - dont let me catch it low when i tech!
___Brake lines good - no leaks means they are good
___All Brake lights working - This is a tough one. S13s are getting old and crappy, 90% of them have bad grounding and brake light problems. Depending on how bad yours is, you may still pass tech.

STEERING/SUSPENSION:
___Wheel bearings ok - NO SQUEAKS OR NOISE WHEN ROLLIN' UP
___Steering wheel play - No more than normal
___Suspension ok - no clunks or rattles more than normal cars with good suspension

MISCELLANEOUS:
___No exposed wires in any part of car - NO ACTUAL COPPER CAN BE SHOWING, NO EXPOSED WIRES IN ENGINE BAY THAT ARE NOT TIED DOWN. GUTTED INTERIOR MAY BE EXEMPT
___No loose items anywhere in car - If it can fly around and disrupt you , we don't need it. that counts for everything.
___All exposed lights taped except for brake lights - now everybody can be cool and have x's all over the place
___Numbers on drivers side & passenger side doors (at least 10'' tall, and easy to read) - WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THESE, PICK UP SOME BLUE MASKING TAPE AND START PRACTICING MAKING NUMBERS ;-)

I have inspected the above vehicle and take full responsibility for its condition. I have read the DDAY rules and codes and have agreed to comply with them. The car and driver meet or exceed all requirements outlined in the DDAY rules, even those not stated here.

If you are unsure, bring the car by Secret Services. I'll help you get it going.

the idea here is not to thinkg ' oh i'm not going to pass' its' to have the rules strict enough so the authorities are happy.

I STRONGLY SUGGEST BRINGING YOUR CAR BY FOR TECH!

geez, you guys are reading into the rules a little bit too far... Just make it safe and without jimmyrigged (unsafe) stuff... He's not going to put it on a lift and send you away if you don't pass the 370 point inspection! Think of an autocross tech...

Do you really have to have a roll bar in a convertible? You don't need one to autocross. Besides my miata has a hard top so it doesn't even look like a convertibel. ;)

Chin

hardtops are ok for SCCA spec miata im sure they will pass tech here!

Correction: Spec Miata race cars are allowed to run a factory hard top if they want to (and are required to remove the factory soft top regardless). But, hard top or not, they are REQUIRED to have not just a roll bar, but a full roll cage as per the good ol' SCCA GCR.

Spec Miata... Specs (http://www.specmiata.com/specifications.htm)

A removable hard top is not "good enough", it provides no rollover protection.

Now, this part does relate to D-Day...

Mattback/Kyle, unless you guys have some other reason for requiring roll bars in convertibles (they sure look cool with them :D ), you might want to contact K&K and get clarification. In my conversations with my K&K rep, I was told that parking lot drift events are insured as "gymkhana" events, which they lump together with autocross. If that's the case, a roll bar should not be required.

Sounds like it's worth a phone call.

If you can autocross, you can participate in this event.

the rules are only there for us to look at them, not to necessarily follow them ;)

Bad precedent, Matt. You should revise the rules to what you intend or are required to follow.

Having rules that you don't follow will lead to issues in the future when you do tighten up the rules and people still think that they don't have to be followed. People are funny that way.
