Default My work in progress, need some suggestions

Lately Ive been planning and making a sub box and amp enclosure for my stuff. The pic below shows what I have so far. Tomarrow Im going to finish the amp enclosure and im going to fiberglass it all to make everything smooth and make it all like one big setup instead of two boxes. To the amp enclosure on the top im going to put plexiglass so u can look in and some cooling fans and neons. What i need help on is after its all fiberglassed smooth, should I try n paint it shiny like a car or vinal it. I wanna paint it but have not had too good of luck in the past with it. If u can tell me what u think that would b great. Sorry if its hard to read i wrote it fast

well it has to be absoloutley smooth, if youre up for the bondoing and sanding more power to you.

I think gulf fabrics will seel to you, but no idea on the cost

If you've got the time and patience to sand it perfectly smooth, I'd paint it. Best way with that would be to use a spray gun, but even if you had to do it with spray cans it could come out pretty nice. What I usually do is dry sand with a coarse grit. Then wet sand with a 400 grit. Prime it with a sandable filler primer. Then wet sand again with a 600 grit. Paint a few coats of your color. Let dry. And finish it off with a couple coats of clear.

Otherwise, vinyling would look good...it's a fairly hard process though and might not be a good idea if you have alot of curves and such..if your enclosure is mostly flat it will be a piece of cake...I usually just use a spray glue on the surface, and pull the vinyl real tight, use a staple gun to staple all the edges on the underside. You can get vinyl at any fabric/craft shop, like Hancock. There's all different kinds and colors.

it looks real nice, i have no clue about the painting ive never seen it, i wish i could do something like that with my car im just to lazy but im wondering, what about ur cargo and stuff, all that painting and sanding might go to waste if u plan on putting stuff on top of the plexiglass. i dont know how much more room u got in the back but, maybe some special sealant to stop scratches would be nice to ensure it. good job though, lookin spiffy. hehe neon lights, cool.
