I'm thinking about going. It's been a while since I went to a Z-Hills autocross.

FWIW, there's an SCCA event up in Gainesville on the same day...just making sure everyone knows what options are out there.

Aw crap. i was thinking that Gainsville was weekend after this.

Guess i'm still getting over that bout of mad cow.

I thought it was the Porsche Club putting this event on...?

The PCA & BMWCCA do the Zephyrhills autocrosses jointly. If you're in an "other" make, take the extra time to drive to Gainesville. It will be THAT much better (I say that because there is a 30ish% chance of rain and that taxiway turns to slime when wet).

PseudoRealityX

whereas Gainesville drains well, as long as you're on course;)

Isn't 30% the "standard" forecast? Doesn't mean a thing in my book, especially 5 days out.

Driving Z-hills in the wet is definitely a challenge... I rather enjoyed it. I like a challenge.

Slime or not, i guess i'm going to be in Zephyrhills on Sunday. I promised a couple of people i'd be there when i thought Gainsville was next weekend.

Man, i really wanted to try Gainsvile, too. Oh well. There's next time.

I like a challenge, too, but i'm still getting used to autoxing in the dry...

The weather forecast has changed a bit and now they (ABC) are saying 30% chance of showers starting Sunday afternoon and getting worse into Mon.. I'm sure it'll get revised 10 more times in the next 4 days so hopefully it'll end up raining right after everyone packs it in.

even if it rains the ride will be worth it for a chili cheese dog and chocolate malt from Dice's Dairy and Dog. :)

The corse being wet at Z-hills is a blast! I would go but have already made plans to be in G-ville at the SCCA event.

I'd really like to go...my tires have seen better days, I REALLY need to replace them soon. I might have to pass this time, too bad I always enjoy Z-Hills. Even if they group you into "others."

What is the timeline for that day? There's nothing on the site.

Look on the PCA site (link is in the sticky Schedule thread), there may be more details there.

In general, be there by 8ish. Plan on working before you run unless you're driving a Porsche or BMW as they usually put the "others" in the last run group.

They usually have lunch catered courtesy of a local car dealer.

The weather channel now has Zephyrhills and Gainesville at a 60% chance of Thunderstorms. Leave the Hoosiers @ home, bring an umbrella, some water resistant shoes, and don't bother washing your car.

rain in the forecast... do the BMW people car if the rear end slides around?

If it's wet, they have no choice but to accept it. But there's a difference between slipping and sliding a little (inevitable on that site when it's wet) and being unsafe and out of control. If you're out there driving like a madman, turning every other turn into a 360-fest and that sort of thing... you're likely to get talked to.

Well, I'm opting out for this event. Got some seat time in at Primus today working out our track configuration for upcoming events. My need for speed has been met for the weekend. :)

Y'all have a good time!

I bitch about events scheduled on Saturday, but man I would have killed for one today (SR, PCA, etc.). My cheapo new street tires may put me into the ditch in the wet.
