Hi all,

Just want to know who will be making the trip - I'd like to caravan just for fun. I have 2 buddies who want to go (S2000 and A4) plus myself.

Let me know,

Jesse

I'm event chairman for the event, so I figure I might stop by at some point.

I'm there, just haven't decided for sure if I'm going to run the shaggin' wagon or the Typhoon with some new shoes of the 275 front and 315 rear NT555R variety :)

Course map has been posted.
Looks like a good course.

I kind of don't like the finish in the middle of a turn.
Beware the milk crate, it will leave dents.

Jim and I are working on that... The figuration before that...it looked like a repeat of what Sipe did at the State Champs, which could have been MUCH MUCH worse quite easily.

We can replace timing lights if we have to....spectators and participates are a tad harder to replace.

well, unless somebody's got a set of azenis they want to let me borrow for the day, i don't think i'm going to be able to make it... my tires are bald enough as it is, and i've got no money for new ones... *sigh*

Unless there is lightning it'll run as planned and hopefully without anyone off-course into the drink.[

Did this event get cancelled? Can't believe nobody had anything to say about it one way or another.

No, it ran.

The equipment truck was a little late and everything associated had to be put on hold.

There were three run groups. The first had two wet runs, one dryING run, and one that was only wet in a few key braking areas. The 2nd group had near perfect conditions. The 3rd, I dunno - went home.

I ran in the wet on bad street tires, was a little disturbed by my driving (like I'd never done it before) and went home to watch the Colts game. The way there was a true white knuckle ride through the puddles on I-75. The way back saw two accidents and one had the Southbound lanes in a traffic jam for over an hour. Sunday night my hands hurt so bad that I couldn't make a fist and my left calf was getting cramps (feel bad for anyone with a heavy clutch - mines a feather).

The course was pre-planned (see link above - it was about 95% like that) by PsuedoRealityX and Jim Reyenga. Jason Minehart and myself helped Jim get it into shape quickly since we were handcuffed for a little while. It turned out well, though I heard some high Hp. guys bitching about "turning a Corvette dream" into a "Miata track". I didn't share this with them because I know how I felt about the same crap... The runs were fairly long at low 60's in the dry/R compound cars and upwards of 85 for novice/street tires/wet runners. I never saw anything too crazy, but there were a few spins. Some jackass in an S-2000 slid 90* one way and then 180* the other (but kept it out of the grass).

I'd give it a thumbs up, overall a 7 of 10 (- for me personally maybe a 4). Being in the later run groups, not hydroplaning half the way up, accident free commutes, prime time confrence championships, and not hitting the road at 4:45 would have made it better :) .

I had 1 good run and it's no coincidence that it was the dryest of the 4.

fwiw, the track was totally Jim's idea. I just added a suggestion for the finish to make it a bit slower...

I was event chairman for the event, and overall, it went pretty well. Still ironing out a few things, but we're coming up with a lot of good suggestions on how to make things run even more smoothly.

As far as weather, by the time the driver's meeting started (before 10), there wasn't a drop falling from the sky. Ended up being low 70s and partly cloudy, really NICE weather for autocrossing. I was too busy in the morning, and was running the first heat, so I didn't even change tires. The course was about being patient in a couple of places and not pushing.

Don Alexander had fastest fendered with a 63 dirty and 64 clean. PAX went to Elliot Harvey driving the MINI he'll be driving down at the Ft. Myers Tour.

Elliot is driving a Mini, now? You mean... Someone else might actually have a chance at winning in STS?!

;)

Don't get your hopes up. He is probably only running it for the Tour.

Crap.

PseudoRealityX

He's as fast in the MINI as he was in the NX2000, if not faster.

It's not his. Someone bought it, and wants to see just how fast it is, and is having Elliot drive it and prep it basically to go win in Ft. Myers.

Well, hopefully I won't have to worry about Elliot for long... My plan is to go back to stock (hopefully SOON) and get beat by Albert instead :D

Actually, I didn't really like the course that much. It may have been better for a miata than a corvette, but I would have really liked to open it up quite a bit more. Had we been able to setup the course Saturday, I probably would have opened it up.

There were parts of the course I liked, but other parts were way too tight. It's part of the learning process. If they let me make another one, it'll hopefully be a bit better.

I got a good idea for a FSF course, but we aren't running one there in 5 forevers.

I just got to remember, cars are a lot bigger than me and are going a lot faster than when I'm walking and setting it up.

The Mini (and Elliot) are registered for the national tour in STS.

yup...i think it's a natural for the class, with good setup, and we all know the driver's capable.

it don't matter what elliot's driving he has a chance to win by just being there. & for all his complaining of how the mini was set up he was still too damn fast!

PseudoRealityX

that's just Elliot. He hates everything he drives. Everything sucks...

amazing how fast he might be if he found a "good" car in his own opinion.:)
