88 dokota v8 swap

ok my friend gave me a dodge dokota cuz he got it for parts for his v8 dokota. i wanna do same thing but he bought truck with the swap already done so he knows nothign about how to do it. so i was wonder what all is needed. and what type motor. i was thinking 350 cuz i can get one cheap. but its a dodge. and pluse i dont know if the motor mounts would work. is the swap the same as a v8 s10 swap? thanx for info guys

its the same basic idea, but you are right, the motor mounts wont work, unless you are good at fabrication, I'd look into swapping a dodge motor (like a 360), might need to get a whole K-member from a v8 dakota but that is what I'd do..

Don't know jack about swapping 350's into s10's. But when It comes to dakotas, it's a very easy swap. You just need the electronics, engine with motor mounts and exhaust manifolds, If your going 5 speed make sure the engine is drilled for a manual transmission. tremec t56 will bolt right up as long as you have the bellhousing. The 3.9L v6 is just a v8 minus 2 cylinders. everything off the front of the engine will swap over with no prob.
