View Full Version : gas milage???
i dunno wtf, i got a 2001 dodge stratus se , and it seems like im gettin the shittest gas mileage possible. i dont know if its cause i put rims on the car or not. but there still 17" tires just lesser meat on the tire. i filled the tank up , i believe its a 14-15 gallon tank, and i drove natural, no hauling ass no nottin i take it slow. and i got i believe 286 miles. should i be getting more? it seems like everytime i turn the freakin car on the gas needle goes down like a notch its really weird. like little trips i take are using alot of gas for some reason. i live in carrollwood on fletcher and dale mabry, i go to citrus park mall i swear the needle will go down 2 notches at least. someone explain this to me. do i need a tune up or gas filter. thanks.

the 2.5 V-6 in your Stratus is just as thirsty as the 2.4 4 banger they normally average 16mpg in City but if you only travel say 5 miles a day than your average gas mileage might be around 10mpg, a tune up will help, new plugs, wires and a NTK brand O2 sensor, stay away from Bosh as Chrysler products don't like them, are the 17's steel wheels? if they are then it will not only hurt the gas mileage but also the performance of engine.
what u mean by hurting the performance of the engine? i see , so naturally the car is a gas hog its not just me. thats good to know it just seems as if the car is suckin up more gas then it used to.

for every 1lb of wheel weight=10 lbs of rotating mass so if old wheels weighted 15 lbs and new wheels weight 20 its like you added 200lbs to your car(not really but that's what the drivetrain thinks because of rotating mass)it requires more power and stress on parts to turn the wheels now , its ok for daily use but if plan on taking it to the strip than more things can break on you as the tranny and axles take the most abuse with heavy wheels, don't get me wrong as i'm sure the 17's look sweet:cool:
