What is the best possible reaction time? I can't remember. The shortest I have pulled is a .122 is that good?

On the LED lights, like at BMP, a .000 is a perfect light.
On the old sportsman tree, a .500 was a perfect light.
A .122 equates to a .622 on the old sportsman tree.
If you were bracket racing, this light may get you through one, maybe two rounds if you are on your dial-in. To be competitive in a normal night of bracket racing, you better be in the .050 and better range.
For someone not racing all the time, it's a fine light.

Any sportsman tree is a .500 tree. Sportsman trees are the one's which have the yellow lights come down one at a time. A pro tree is a .400 tree and all the yellow lights come on at once. When I say a .500 or .400 light I meen any time lower than that meens RED. If you are bracket racing you better be in the .520 or lower range if you want to last.

Mark,
This past Thursday at BMP was my first time with LED lights. They were dropping a sportsman tree and showing reaction times as .000 as a perfect light.
Here's my timeslip with a .073, which equates to a .573 on the old bulbs.
I was kind of caught off guard when I saw .073 and no foul.
Am I right here or confused?
Also- Do you know of anyone looking to get rid of a 4.10 gear for a Ford 9"??? I was spinning too much gear for the 1/4 mile.
Here's my timeslip-

They use the L.E.D now and a perfect light is .000.It's hard to get used to it.The old light's were .500 of a second.

A sportsman tree is still .500 to count down to a green from first amber, some timing equipment will show it as .000 others .500 as a perfect light, depends on the track and timing equipment that they use... Great lakes dragaway in wisconson had .000 back in the 80's, so I wouldnt say this is something new.

I'm no avid drag racer, but I thought I heard something about LEDs being calibrated to have a "delay" to match the old school incandescent bulbs.
Is that right? Any rate...so .000 is a perfect RT huh? There should be some sort of standard to that stuff. Why doesn't NHRA regulate that?

I ran a .497 and no red once at a test and tune.

When NHRA or IHRA runs a national or sanctioned divisional points meet they bring and use there own timing equipment. otherwise tracks have their own equipment they use and can be set up to show .000 or .500 based on the manufacture's (compulink, chrondek, TSI,) software installed into that perticular system. As an example, Byron Dragway near Rockford IL. and Indianapolis raceway park used a compulink III system that showed .500 as reaction time, Great Lakes Dragaway in Union Grove Wi. used chrondek that showed .000, Cordova Dragway used a TSI "SD" super system that showed .000 and US 131 dragway in Martin Mi. used the same TSI system and showed .500 as a perfect reacton time. My ET slips from the 2 times I raced at BMP in 98 and 02, show a compulink startrak syst, that show a .500. Hope this Info helps..

I've been .501 and .499 on a .500 sportsman tree, never perfect, argh! Had a .427 on a .400 pro tree, but it's because the guy next to me red lighted and I left on his movement (too much street racing, I guess  )

I have a .500 timeslip and many in the .500-.520 range. Granted the .500 is mostly luck.
But for the guy that asked a .500 light is = to .000 now.

yea, NHRA is now using the .000 all out now i believe.
when i 1st got into racing, it was as bad as 1.5's and stuff...now im dissappointed in anything over .65 (or .15)...only cut a perfect light twice ...plenty of .5XX's though...

What kind of car is that? Looks almost identical to my 1/8th mile at sunshine.
ME YOU
1.905 60' 1.926
5.795 330' 5.770
8.960 1/8th 8.961
77.12 MPH 75.52
I had a little spinning problem in 2nd gear evident in the 60 to 330 foot mark. I'm going to be heading out to sunshine this wed to try my slicks again. Let loose off the line and try and cut a 1.8 and don't powershift second gear to avoid spin and see if I can run an 8.7-8.8 ;)

2002 WRX. You're right, those times are pretty close! Had a pretty good launch but it seems to run out of steam at the end.

yeah, looks like it, mine has a little more mph in it I think ... I'll ice up the intake or wait for a cold night to go out and remove spare tire and jack.

It's "stock". :D No, I have an uppipe and a downpipe. And a couple of cheap-o "mods" like a K&N and grounding wires. I was hoping for at least something in the 13s but no worries, it's fast enough. What's in your fox?
Sorry we're offtopic! But my r/ts were pretty good. Once I got a feel for the lights was pretty easy to get good lights everytime.

3.73 gears and exhaust, k&n drop in and some 8 inch slicks :D
I have a pro 5.0 and subframe connectors, removed front sway bar. Bunch of really insignificant stuff that adds up and makes it somewhat quick.
Oh, and generally my reaction times are in the 600-700 range at sunshine because I'm focusing on et rather than beating my opponent. Now that I have the et down I'll try and get some kills :D
ive gotten consistent .503's a couple TR trackdays ago

This will be my first full season back drag racing a full points schedule since back in the early 90's racing a motorcyle. Down here at Immokalee when you are racing at a points night, you'd better be .515 or .015 or below or you're likely going on the trailer or buying back in for second round. About 5 weeks ago I went 6 rounds plus 4 passes in T&T and time passes and I never had over a .518 light - this included one .500 and two .501's. The .500 got me lane choice in one round which helped me put a dragster on the trailer. I do have a Pro Cube electronics box which has 4 built-in timers and allows me to 'fine tune' my reaction time along with crossing over if the opponent leaves before me timewise and I have to give chase. I've only crossed over twice so far and had .518 and .516 lights respectively. It's tougher crossing over as you leave off the opponents top bulb which is at an angle pointed towards him to it's tougher to see and you leave later, you take a few numbers out of the box when crossing over due to this fact. Less numbers in the starting delay during the day as it is harder to see the light and then more at night because you see the light better as it gets dark.
It's definately a wild game these days compared to the old days, but the race is basically won or lost at the light unless both racers cut nearly identical lights, then it would be who does not break out or goes over their dial-in by the smallest margin. You still have to 'take the line' to win, but as I learned last week, judging the line is tough - I lost by .002, had a .512 reaction time and ran a 6.028 on a 6.03 dial and lost by 2 thousands, bummer! Good race though!
See you all at the track event this Sat & stop by & chat!
