Just curious if Sunshine is worth the drive from N Tampa. How many runs can you get in and what are the wait times like? Are most of the people out for fun or are there a bunch of pro race car drivers running around taking themselves too seriously? I may check it out next Wednesday, but would hate to spend an hour driving there and back for one pass.
Oh yeah, the website doesn't say anything about helmets. I know the same folks own Bradenton, are the same rules in affect?

If you have absolutely nothing better to do, it's not bad. I went last night, they open at 6, I got there at 6:45 and was car number 106 if you get the picture. I turned in my tech card and got right in line, I did three passes in the whole night. Probably could have done 4 or 5 but I took a break to let the car cool and grab some food. I've been nights when it's a ghost town though, so it's a crap shoot, usually pretty crowded though.

Oh, and yes the rules are the same, they make me wear a helmet in a Roadmaster.:dunno:

I would have to agree with the roadmaster. Got there at about 6:30 and did just the same. Made 2 passes and left at 8pm. One day Billy and I must race. I hear that thing will move.

Same owner, same rules..
and exactly what do you mean by your quote of "pro race car drivers taking themselves too seriously"?
It's normally a pretty laid back crowd, but act like an ass and you will be treated as such..

Laid back is a good term, I guess. I prefer spending my limited free time doing stuff with people who are friendly and not so uptight.

i usually get there right as the gates open, turn in my tech card and park right in the line...i usually am one of the first 5 cars to run when i go and ill hotlap about 3 laps, take a 20 minute breather try to get in 2 more...then basically once 7:30/8:00 rolls around, you got everyone and their momma there..so i just park, get break open a bag of chips and some hot dogs and watch the cars run till about 9:45 then get back into line because it thins out later in the night. i would rather save the money, and go to our track day...your guaranteed 15+ runs and little to no wait for 30 dollars (sunshine is 15..you do the math)

Just so you know I make an average of 3-4 passes a night on Wednesdays, but I also give myself a good 30 minute cool down in between passes...
Hot lapping does nothing for me except strain the engine..
