Top 20, paxed: http://www.martinsportscarclub.com/events2/new_data/11_2003_FL_State_Championship_Top_20_pax.asp
It was a low turn out.
Thanks to Mr. Sideways for the co-drive.

just for reference for those who didn't go...it was a WIDE open course. So pax indexes for this event aren't totally accurate, even compared to their normal lack of accuracy.

hey Todd, thanks for Co-driving with me. It was nice to see that our "lack" of torque could still beat out strut suspenion in the Z4. How long till we get to see the incar video?

I may figure that stuff out this weekend. I have to take the 8mm and burn it on a DVD ROM and then find some free server space to upload it to. You'll like that last run. You can clearly see the tach. & speedo (at least on a TV). Other than a little slide 'n bog in the last 90*R, it was damn near perfect (and I see it held up as pax FTD). I'll let you know when & where it's up. I have a feeling that I'll have to do it one run at a time, for lack of computer memory.
I didn't lack torque, I lacked balls. I was "launching" at 4K (didn't want to blow your diff.), and barely got a wiggle all day. It's no coincidence that I bogged every start, never went O/C, and didn't take a single cone. I was too careful and am lucky to come away 4th...I have a long way to go to be competitive with the likes of you/Sipe/etc. At least on the local level I only need a few thousand more dollars and a half second more skill. I'm bummed that a lot of the good BS drivers are moving on just when I'm getting into it.
I wish we would have stayed to see the 4th group run. It looks like SM2 was a great class.

Looks like the usual suspects won and there wasn't much competition, but it sounds like it was alot of fun. :p

Hey Brian The Volvo is getting Aluminum heads and a Supercharger the day the S2000 sells. Wanna sign up for a track day with me so we can have 2 overpower wallowing animals wondering around the track.

Just curious

I've been saying this for some time. Arron is a guy to keep your eye on in the comming year or so. he's dedicated, he's 19, and he's starting to display some times that alot of us probably wouldn't be able to touch in these cars. Arron's parents were at the state Championships and the support we showed him may help his parents to support him in this. So keep an eye on arron, if he gets his hands on a capable car he could be the next young gun from central florida.... I'm starting to see a growing trend from Central Florida! Name another state that had 3, 21 yr olds competeting at the top of their classes?
The course design was simply. figure a normal G ville autox running clockwise but enter the Infeild at the first left. Then exit the infield for the tightest turn on course to enter the Chicane. The exit the Chicane follow the big increasing radius sweeper into a 3 cone slalom (some people made it a 4 cone, No idea why) Then make another tight right into the skid pad and follow that around to form a S into the other skid pad with a tight right at the top of the 2nd skid pad into a couple of flat out offsets for the finish. Thats it. Other then the Infield section being really low in the revs the course was a hp course.

Todd,
I can host the file for you if you'd like, just get me the file somehow, either email or give me a CD and I'll upload it. In the meantime here's a video of my last and fastest run:

I was having a horrible day with the car! I'm gonna blame it on lack of experience with Hoosiers. This was my first set which I got at the beginning of the year. I just replaced the fronts cause they showed some cords at the end of last month's event down in Ft. Myers. So, instead of fighting with understeer I had massive oversteer! Mr Sideways would've loved my car Sunday! :) Usually (with new Hoosiers on all 4) I run about 35 cold in the rear to keep the car from pushing too much, at my last run I was down to 29 hot! As you can see from my times it got a lot better, but still, 2 seconds behind Bob is way off! Now I know what to do with older/worn out Hoosiers, start real low! Ian, I need some info on that product you told me about.
Tires wasn't the only problem I was having, I just recently replaced the rear rotors but got cheap and didn't do the pads at the same time, so I had no brakes in the rear! The fronts kept locking up on me, well, ABS would kick in and I hate ABS!
Ok, no more excuses, car will be ready for next season, I promise! Can't wait!!!

 Maybe next year. The engine hopefully will be ready by the end of the month with ~350+ rwhp. I have everything I need except an intercooler. Then it will be time for a complete rebuild of the suspension. I hope to have that done in time for the first national event at Ft Myers. :D

FWIW, the tour is still on for Ft. Myers. Only the Pro is in question, and so far, from what I've heard, the deals are working out on the positive side. More info to come as it becomes available.

2 things I saw...
1) not carrying nearly enough speed exiting the increasing radius. You had all that room to be flat on the throttle earlier. No reason to keep that tight. On my runs, it was worth ~a half second..... with your car, id guess more since it's faster.
2) broke too late into the 120 degree onto the skidpad
otherwise, good...you could probably throw the car a bit more.

Thanks Jamal, I'll take you up on that. I have some homework to do in order to figure out how, but bought the hardware & software a while back. Supposedly I can edit everything digitally once saved to memory, make image enhancements, and add text/music/etc. Drop me an E-mail (no content needed) so that I have an address to send to. I'll send one run at a time and label them. I'm sure they'll be pretty large files, so you may want to save to a Zip. It'll be Saturday or Sunday, probably.

Thanks Jesse!
1) You're right I could've, watching the video I noticed how slow I was through there, but in the previous runs the car was very loose through there, every time I got on the power it wanted to go sideways and my name is not MrSideways! :) Not sure if you noticed, I short-shifted into 3rd to avoid going sideways, not as much torque in 3rd.
2) if my brakes were working properly that wouldn't have been too late! Brakes were probably the best feature in my car, now it's gone! :( It WILL be fixed soon.
Great news about the Pro! If there is anything I can do to help make it happen please let me know!
Todd, You can email me (bluesjam@tampabay.rr.com) whenever you're ready. What kind of camcorder do you have and what kind of connections does it have? Where are you working now? I can stop by and pick up the CD from you or you can drop it off if you'd like.
Let me know.

Jamal, I have a Sony 8mm "Handycam", with RCA jacks. If I burn to a DVD, would that be easier than trying to send compressed files to you?
I'm in Brandon at 301 & 60 (Courtesy), and if I remember right you're only a few miles away at MacDill, right? I'll E-mail you later in the week and make arrangements to bring it to you.

I'm not that far from you, Bloomingdale and Bell Shoals. Does your camcorder have any PC connection like firewire or maybe USB? How do you hook it up to your PC? You can either burn it to a CD or DVD or email if it's not too big and I'll host it for you, just let me know.

I'm sitting at a borowwed CPU right now trying to figure it out. I needed a "capture card" to convert analog to digital, enabling a hard drive to store it....Fun, I didn't have one. Now I'm learning MGI VideoWave4.
I'll get it done and get it to Jamal early in the week.

awesome. It took me 3 weeks last year to learn about Firewires and such to convert on a borrowed camera for my nationals video last year. I want a Video Camera SOO BAD.

Todd, I have a capture card, just give me the camera and I'll take care of it if you want. If you're working tomorrow bring it with you and I'll stop by to pick it up.

I'll take you up on that Jamal. I had no luck. After loading up all of the software and installing the card all I ever recieved was a warning message that said I didn't have the system resources to capture it. I tried several different formats, compressing it as much as possible to save drive space.... Nothin'. I'll bring it to work Tuesday.

I'm off tomorrow, so I can stop by and pick it up. What are your hours and which building do you work in? Make sure you bring whatever cables came with it.
