I got killed last night....
on the way home I was in a construction zone and came up on part of the road being redone and there was a manhole cover that had not been paved around completely. There was no way around it and so it ended up taking out one of my primary tubes on my driver's header. It is almost completely crushed in but hopefully a little magic with a welder can salvage it.
I just wish it would have destroyed my H-pipe or mufflers instead as I just ordered new 3" exhaust. No such luck as it only gets the part I am keeping.

Has anyone here ever seen a primary tube cut out and repaired? It is about a 5" long area right before the collector with about half of it crushed. I was thinking the crushed part could be cut out and a new piece welded in?

It is right on the very bottom of the header so access should not be a problem. I will try to get it on a lift this week to check.

I can't see it being much of a problem for a skilled welder to fix. The toughest part would be getting the measurements down before welding in the new piece(s), which is nothing uncommon for a custom weld job anyway.
That still sucks that it couldn't have taken out one of the pieces you were planning on replacing.
