I always hear about this buy "being really cool in person" and what not and it pisses me off. A little more accurate assessment since I was there and know what happened:

• Shalane and Brandon talked about running each other. They left by themselves to an undisclosed location so as not to attract "attention".
• They made 2 runs, but in the one everyone is talking about the 12x second bimmer was side by side with Shalane in her 12:20 car until she opened the bottle.
• Shalane came back by herself with Brandon nowhere in sight, and everyone asked Shalane what happened. The BMW guys, concerned about Brandon, asked her if she knew where he was. She said he turned off some road and that was the last she saw of him. Noone knew where this road was, including Shalane.
• Owner of bimmer comes back and is pretty cool about it all, as are the rest of the bimmer guys. Noone gave anyone any shit. A race is a race and that's all there is to it.
• The story hits the internet and the bimmer owners who were there gives props where it's due but would also like to see something from a roll.
• The domestic guys think we're ragging on them when all we're saying is our cars are built for the highway and we would like to see a highway run.The rest of it is all crap that didn't need to happen in the first place. Everyone was giving Shalane props until a misunderstanding happened, which has since been cleared up between the parties. Anything else is nothing but drama that is going to cause unnecessary hard feelings. Some should take a cue from the people involved in the misunderstanding and solve the issue, not create more. We're not in high school anymore guys.

I can see how American Muscle cars are made for quick drag racing, German and European cars, are made for high end speed since in Europe there are no speed limits. Here they made them so you have a quick rush making it to the speed limit. :lol: Over there they make it to have the rush at 120+ miles ie, BMWs, Porches, Audis, Ferraris, Lamborginis, etc. Unfortunatelly we have speed limits here :mad:

I think that cars have to be engineered different to be able to feel safe at those high speeds.

I think that is the difference between American Muscle and European cars, if anyone cared:roll:

Well, most BMW's are in a different price range than f-bodies..i think a corvette would be the equal in price/power/handling/etc and i am really wanting to know who came up with the theory that american cars dont handle well...even at high speeds...i own a 93..160+ and the car isnt jerking, swaying, feeling loose, or any of the like. ask DaTruth, he doesnt race but he is a street tester for high end durability who just happens to get cars trying to chase him during some testing. :lol: and as far as reliability, only thing major i had to fix in my car was the tranny..and its an auto, so i was expecting to do that anyways

Alot of these cars here are reliable if you look at the type of use they get.They get run very hard.But you have to agree that a car is only as good as it's owner.

I would like to see how some of the f-bodies do at higher speeds.I never have owned one.But looking at them I don't see why they wouldn't do well at higher speeds with the proper set up.

You can look at the corvettes and even the nsx's and can tell they cut through the air real good.

BMW's don't look like they would do very well but they do,go figure:dunno:

I give the guys in the BMW"s credit. They went a different route and built something that isnt so common. American muscle has been raced for over 50 years. The parts for the beemer cost more and this is the drivers choice. We dont have the same parts available that the muscle has. I really like to see cars like the BMW go fast. Give these guys a break. It's not as easy as it looks.

an F-body at high speeds handle just fine..if i had to gues id say my top speed i could reach with my gearing is in the 190 range..now a 6spd...id say it would be in the 2's very easily, granted it had enough torque to push it...
