i have no idea what one of these things are but i was on my way home heading down DM. when i see a nice looking conv mustang. i noticed it was a roush and said 380r on it. it was an older guy, maybe 30-40, and probably his wife or something. i didnt really think anything of it because i didnt try anything and neither did he. we both hit a light and im in the outside right lane and hes 2 over from me in the left. i just roll out of first and shift at a normal 4500, go into second and give it a little more gas and blow off with him being about 2 cars behind me...he does nothing. we then hit another light and i notice btoh them looking over at my car, maily the woman. i didnt say anything, although i was about the holla at the slizut givin me a couple looks, instead i just returned the glance and then kept lookin forward. so a min goes by and the light finally turns green. i rev to about 5k in 1st then shift when all of a sudden from right next to me he stomps it. at this point i was at about 4k in 2nd(well out of my powerband), so to compensate i give her a little double clutch action get her movin. by the time full boost hits hes got about 2 cars on me. i get to the top of second and onlt get about a half a car back, into 3rd and i finally catch up at around 90mph or 7k and let off a LOUD blow right in his lady's ear:lol:. i didnt feel like doing 100+mph down DM, and was pulling him pretty hard, so in my mind i proved my point by catching up 2 cars from 30-90 after he got the jump. sweet lookin stang and i guess its always fun to get a decent run now and then

I would think that Vince is right. I ran a Sunset Orange colored one with exhaust, a few weeks back, and he was right there on my door.

The way the weather has been lately he's probably hurting as well... With some cooler weather the blower cars are going to be moving a LOT quicker.... I know mine felt like it had an extra 50 horse when the weather dropped around 70...

Not defending the roush, I still think they are WAY overpriced for what they are... I'd rather have bruce's Mach 1 and a Vortech any day!

BTW Dino - your mid 12 runs were back in January... ever make it to the track since then? I ran 12.79 that day - first time out in the car and I haven't been able to do better than a 12.9 (against Shalane) since that day because of my gremlins (of course I'm sure the heavy wheels and lowered suspension didn't help the cause)...

Maybe we need a 99B16Si vs. Dino run ;)

Lots of money for very little go but lots of bling bling. Just a personal opinion, mind you, but I think that equates to American Rice. YMMV just like the import ricers think their cares are not rice. It's all a matter of opinion. If you choose to worship at the feet of Roush, Steeda and Saleen, more power (and less money) to you. They're still just an overpriced Mustang. Oops, there went that personal opinion thing again.

its not rice if it came that way. Although I agree that the roush's, saleens, and steeda cars are extremely overpriced, their not just about looks. They do have a good all around package (suspension/brakes), but they are still limited to the 2v 4.6L GT motor.

Sooooo, If a dealer slaps on stickers, springs, wing, 15" rims, a fart can, and maybe a cai on a honda and sells it as a "performance car" it's not rice?

I don't buy it... They are selling v6 rousch mustangs at brandon for for like $30K with nothing more than body mouldings, interior, exhaust, rims and suspension - sorry - that's rice to me!

Until they start selling them with hand-built strokers, or superchargers that are worth a damn, with maybe a lighweight option for the car that eliminates all of the mouldings and adds lightweight seats, etc... I'm still going to call foul!

I really would not have belived it if i hadnt seen it.That is wrong. It takes the value away,Not that they are valueable. How can they put oush on a $50,000 car and one that has a V-6.They are slow with the V-8.Will the v-6 run 16 sec 1/4 miles?

Actaully, you're thinking Feb when we had Invasion 2.
I ran in May... high 12.6's at 110.X... a couple of hundreths slower and a whole mph slower. I had the full rear suspension in May, and only LCA's and SFC's in Feb. So if the weather stays like it has been for the past two days, I should be able to maybe hit 12.4's.... if the clutch holds out.

copmagnet - I am not trying to stick up for the roush, the V6 roush is pointless. I am just saying that the top of the line roush is not too bad, its too expensive, but its still not that bad for a 2v motor. But like I said, I would never actually buy one.

here's the down low on the 380r's

apparently, according to the sticker on the new ones and the dealer agrees that the 380r stands for 380rwhp. but i have rod in them and it doesnt seem like 380 rwhp but thats what the sticker from roush says and the dealer agree's with it. they also make the same mustang but it has no body up-grades. it looks like a bone stock 03' gt mustang but it had the 380r engine package on it,(380rwhp). i would hate to roll up on one and get and ass raping by what looks like a stock gt, it doesnt even make a supercharger whine.

qitstrn
09-30-2003, 07:58 PM
I have heard the whine from them but not for long. They do look good in my rearview mirror. The reason i asked is i've been told they have anywhere from 380-450whp.I have raced a few and they ran about the same. But one had a pulley and one had spray.

Not putting him down, just trying to teach him about the food chain..I think his car is pretty quick but he has to understand that there are stock V8's and then there are the one's with work done, the stock one's are easy kills but it gets much more difficult when he starts to make a move up.Much props to his car though, moves out pretty good for a four banger with a turbo!gitstrn, don't ever give up bro, this is racing. From the days when they raced big blocks till now it will never change, just differant cars and opinions.later Bryan

What does that say about american muscle? I'm having trouble trying to figure out what your point is or what that means.

It's cool though. Talk down on an American made machine and go buy your imports. If you think it makes you better than all of us domestics, then so be it. (I'n not referring to the import community as a whole, just this guy)

Your also claiming a fwd car gets better traction than a rwd car? I don't know why I bothered posting to this. Just a waste of time.
