there isn't going to be boring, or anything, i want to get a ??blockguard, ???rings, ??? rods, je pistons, and a built head later on down the road, but i already got that part figured out. which do you think will get the most bang for my buck, by the way what size turbo should i get, and i am going to be upgrading the fuel system, and what sort of stuff do yuo think i should do that in?? let me know, thanks alot and it will be a big help for any and all comments.

doing this "later" is setting up for failure...

i know all about that, but that won't be at full boost, and it will be tuned without the built head, with the bottom end built i want to push 10-11 psi, with a fmic. that is easily acheivable, and still somewhat safe without a built head.

The real question is this how much do you have/want to spend? That will determain what set up you will need.

i don't want the most expensive parts, i am just looking for a ballpark. thanks for more help.

94 and up(approx $)

b16a long block- 600
b18b1 longblock- 600
b18c1 longblock- 1000
b20b/z long block- 800

...add about 1500 for full swap

b18c would be the best, but is obviously the most expensive. but theres too many factors to get specific. and at least 440cc injectors and some variation of a standalone FMU would be a necessity, that alone is at least 800 without tuning cost

stroke to rod ratio the b16 is going to be your best bet! the b20 will give u alot of torque but they're known for crackin sleeves. the LS is the strongest block u mentioned, but the b16 will be your best bag for your buck!!!

I say go for the b20 and use someupgraded sleeves, torque is what you want, after all, its what wins races(which is why a 170hp(1.8L) honda engine runs even with a DOHC neon engine producing 150hp(2.0L), they both produce around the same amount of torque) I would actually reccomend an H22 or a stroked b20 for the most power and torque, vtec if you absolutely have to have it and a larger turbo for the larger displacement(all built with good parts of course, otherwise you may regret using cheapo parts)

i need more insight and information, i don't want numbers, i want realism..

Me, personally I would suggest the shortblock with the longest rod. Long rods motors usually make more torque, desireable on a hi reving motor, and produce less stress on cylinder walls. Turbo wise I usually use a stage III T3T4E in a .63 exhaust housing. I usually sell that turbo for about $600.00 and they work just fine on a B motor. Fuel wise there are a few options. A FMU can help if you keep a small injector and you just need to push the topend of the rpm band on boost. Needless to say you will at least need a $100.00 MSD pump to keep the pressure up and fuel supply. I would say run the much more popular VAFC. That would let you tune a large injector keeping your motor safe and tunned properly making the horsepower. What I do most of the time is standalone EFI system's. I use and sell Microtech EFI, and the biggest advantage is you can run a very large injector full sequential, have complet controll of ignition time. Very important, not only to make alot of power but to keep a motor from blowing it self apart. The stand alone's also reference a MAP sensore that allows the computer to make adjustmustments for boost pressure. Stock computers run up the timing (not good on boost) and when a factory Honda MAP see's boost it totally trips out. Maybe I dwelled on EFI too long, but I belive it is a key part of a combination. Good luck

I would say go with the Ls its a pretty strong block and has a lower comp ratio to begin with plus it has nice torque....But thats my biassed opinion..And always remember you get what you pay for....I can attest to this having gone the cheap route several times and ended up with a fucked up engine..

you're an idiot. shutup.

theres no replacement for discplacement go for biggest motor out there. But if you dont wanna spend much the b18 is best. A freind just got one droped in his 94 civic coupe and it feels great even tho its still running on the d15 fuel program. B16's are good for hp but torque is a neccesity for those close races.

B20 Turbo Do It

I think you should just build the motor and take your time...rushing never got anyone anywhere they wanted to be. I know from expeirence. and if your going to build a motor build a b20 or h22. best bang for your buck is a boosted single cam...if it does blow who cares its like 200 bucks for a new one

i say sohc turbo...i agree..easy to replace and at a low cost...but if you wanna spend money..i'd go with the b16 turbo.

ls turbo is the way to go...low compression...good amount of torque and pretty cheap to replace if you get a lil happy :-D with the boost....when you get the rest of the money to build it you can just add a vtec head also....thats :naughty:

Just be a loser and go b16 turbo, or if you wanna win races go turbo b18 non vtech. Freind has b18 in his 94 dx coupe, beats hondas that have vtech all day and also whoops GT stangs.

you can't compare ls and vtec...why do u think there's ls vtec and b20 vtec
