Can anyone help me diagnose this issue. The car is a 1990 New Yorker, v6, auto tranny. Sometimes the tranny slips when taking off from a stop light. It's almost like the clutch is slipping. It only happens when the car is hot and the temp is high.... ie during the day when the temps are 85+ The tranny fluid is red and sits higher than "normal" on the dip stick, when it's hot.

have you tried replacing the filter? if tranny is overfilled this will also make it slip, the tranny is computer controlled in that vehicle i believe which makes things a PITA to diagnose the problem, since the computer tells the tranny how to shift depending on your driving style.
BTW, check you PM's when you get a chance, thanks.

Thanks for the info.
I am attempting to get someone to host the video. Something happened to the cd burner on my video editing pc, and it no longer works.

The filter and fluid were recently changed. where is the computer that controls the tranny? Is it dfferent from the engine computer? Also, can I easily add a tranny cooler?
Thanks

it should have a cooler i would think if not you can easily install 1, the computer for the tranny should be located on the passanger side inner fender under the hood, the computer for the motor is on the drivers side next to the battery, later Mike

just ran into 1 of the exact same problems this morning in a caravan, dropped the pan, flulid had some metal but no clutches in pan, i'm suspecting the module since once hot the tranny will jump out of gear than i droped it in neutral, started it up and now the tranny was stuck in 2nd and 3rd gear:wtf: i'm gonna work on it some more tomorrow and see if i can figure this problem out, electronic trannys suck! btw, i plugged in my scanner(check engine light was ON and got a slipping tranny code:roll: so much for the scanner communicating with tranny
