I am in the market for a new(er) vehicle, and since i cant decide on a car and dont really have the money to get what i really want, i figure a truck is a good way to get me through school until i have the money for something else.

I've been thinking about a Ranger (98-00) 4x4 Supercab. Any ideas/tips?

i`m not a big fan of ford, so i couldn`t really say anything good except you could probably find one cheap. my toy taco (98) has over 100,000 on it and it runs like it did 60,000 miles ago...perfect. i have had no problems with it except the evap blew out at about 80,000. 2.7 with 150 hp is nice for a four banger truck, toyo reliabilty and the bigest four cyl for compact trucks (i think). nissans are nice to ooooo boost is cool. oh, there are s/c for taco 4`s also.

a friend of mine has a tacoma..nice enough truck

but their resale value is so high that getting the one i want would probably put it out of my price range.

my dad had a 96 Ranger splash and had zero problems with it for 80,000 miles.

I bought a new 2003 nissan desert runner
and the reason i did is my girls dad had bought a new one(white crew cab) back in 2000 and hes put 75K on it already, and he hasnt had any probs, hell it has the orig tires on it still.

nissan and toyos have the best reliability

ive been looking into used Rangers and theres quite a few right in my price range....i.e. under 9k and within 4 model years of new.

I'm not really a fan of the design of the nissans or toyotas however.

i really have no interest at all in trying to make a truck fast, pretty much the whole point of buying a truck is to get away from spending money on it until i can afford it.

4.0 and 4WD...id be happy. im going to look at one tommorrow...wish me luck

Ranger = Nice trucks
S-10 = my sister's falls apart :(
Tacoma = Mine has 95,000 on it and refuses to die. It's the red one in the sig, which now sports a freshly chromed (or rather, de-blacked) grill.
