View Full Version : $ Cash Money To The Fastest Cars On Aug. 16th ! $

Thanks to some additional money from our sponsors we will be putting up $100 in prize money to the fastest radial tire only car (no drag radials) and $100 to the fastest car with slicks / drag radials ! :evil2:

I have arranged this to entice some of our TR viewers and lurkers that claim to be only street / money racers. :smirk:

It will go like this:

The entrys will be able to make as many test passes as they would like during the first few hours of the event. (We start the open event for everyone @ 6:00 p.m.) At 8:00 p.m. and 9:30 we will announce the entries to come to some separate stagging lanes to make a solo pass and record the times.

We will take these two solo passes and add them together to get a average. Whoever puts up the best average takes the money !

The normal lanes will be open during these passes so none of the other paying racers will be inconvienenced and normal test and tunes run will be mixed in at the same time.

I am hoping this gives a few more real fast cars a reason to show and in turn put on a show for the rest of us, plus have the opportunity to take home some $$$$.

Anyone can enter and one car can not win both classes.

If we get a few that enter it will be fun to watch since the last few hours of all the Track Events tend to slow down. If we get no one to enter no big deal.

To pre-pay for the event please e-mail me at: nosgears@yahoo.com Or you can pay at the gate but you will have to pay the additional $10.

You do not have to specify that you want to run in this in advance, just pre-pay me or pay at the gate. We will make the call to go to the lanes at 8:00 and 9:30.

Also please read the additional information located below this post.

I'd rather watch fast cars going for broke than bracket racing.

Please keep in mind this is being done just to spice things up and bring out some real fast cars for everyones entertainment.

Everyone that comes to race will be given the same opportunity to make as many passes as you would like (easily 20+).

If you enter to run in the $100 races make sure you know what your safety requirements are. Helmets will obviously be a must and the rest will depend upon the speed of your car.

Have fun and lets see who we get out. :evil2:

Where do I sign up? I will be on a new pair of ET streets so I am not sure how they will work. As long as I can be WOT and on the gas right out of the hole I should be ok. I can't wait!!!

P.S. Fordman: Floyd and a few others are interested it running too. Please PM me.

Why don't you do, who ever trys to run for the fastest throws in 5 or so bucks and that goes towards the pot.

Are they going to enforce the 5 point roll bar for 11.99 or faster cars at this event.

Scott

It is 11.49 and all the normal rules will apply if they are looking. :smirk:

Props to the sponsors for throwing up the extra cash!!

Guys,

You can add me to that list, i'm about ready.

I have the ZR-1 all about ready, i've been putting some miles on it the last few nights, & so far, everything seems to be going well, apart from a lifter making a commotion, which i am hoping will clear itself up, i should be all set.

I'm taking the car to a Dyno shop end of next week, should be about spot on though, but just want to make sure, this will be all motor though, no NOS at the minute, should run a "bit" better than last year, higher compression, opened up the ports & a few little other tricks were performed :-)

We are posting times though right?

Anyone want to have a friendly side bet? i've got $100.00 bill to put up against any street car ALL MOTOR, no power adders, Big Block - Small Block, heads up race!

See you guys on the 16th.

I will see you there with my pump gas burning, street tire wearing daily driver. If you want to go on the motor that would be fine with me.

Now this is what I am talking about !

I prefer you just run in one class so I do not have to worry about deciding who gets paid for 2nd place should one car win both classes.

Deadline is coming up soon to pre-pay and save $10 otherwise you will just have to pay at the gate.

Keep it up guys.

You say "radial tire only CAR" what if you have a Truck? Can it enter?

Thanks

Scott

Yep you can enter.

Scott, what's with the 2 run average? I don't get it. :?

Tom N
08-12-2003, 07:24 PM
You make 2 passes down the track. The average between the 2 will be your best. So if you ran a 11.30 and a 11.19 you average would be 11.245. So make both runs count. Basicly its the best 2 run average race.

T/S #25
08-12-2003, 09:02 PM
I knew that's what he was talking about TRIPLE G.

I just don't understand the whole "average" thing. If you make an 8 second run on your first pass but then have to lift on your second pass to keep from hitting the wall, you still made an 8 second run on your first pass. Why should you be penalized for your second, or first run, for that matter?

Guado
08-12-2003, 09:39 PM
Cause it's his rules Joe. :D

We can't always have it our way. If it was me I would make it so you could only win if you have a pewter car. ;)

Tom N
08-12-2003, 09:45 PM
I dont have a problem with it. Thats racing. If you have a bad pass well you will probably loose. Makes it a driver and car contest. No different than if we just did a heads up elimination, one bad run and your out. Happened to me at drag warz last year. Made it to the finals and wouldnt you know it tranny wants to act up. realy bad 1st to 2nd shift and go home with a second place finish.

T/S #25
08-12-2003, 10:03 PM
Well, I guess we'll just have to make both runs count then. :D

Maybe dial the car back a little to make sure it will get down track OK.

Very well put.

Not trying to penalize anyone but instead trying to keep someone from coming out and going for broke with a 8 second run and then can not back it up within a reasonable range.

Guys,

I'm really starting to look forward to this weekend, there's going to be a lot of good races & some seriously fast cars out.

I am trying my bloody hardest to get my car ready.

Sent of my wheels to CCW to have them narrowed for a smaller size Tyre, I want the 26" - 10.5, that whould help me stop breaking rear ends once and for all.

I heard the Viper guy is running, is that true? Any other Vipers going? What about Corvettes, who else is taking there's?

I read the list of entries, but no cars were listed :-( i'm going to make it out for about 4pm, time to unload & take a walk around and see what's what.

What's happening afterwards, i heard there was to be some after activities, if so, count me in, i'm up for a good late night, IM me if it's to be kept of line.

Later.

Tom N
08-13-2003, 12:05 AM
Viper guy may come but i dont think it will be in the viper. I am sure there wil be some late night gathering sat night, it just wont be talked about here. Looking foward to this weekend.

Scott
08-13-2003, 12:10 AM
Why do you guys need "late night activities" when you can race without fear at the track ?

Anyway the track opens at 5:00 runs start at 6:00. Money races (well TR backed anyways ;) ) are at 8:00 and 9:30.

The names that are on the pre-paid list with no screen name after them are non-TR members so that might be a good indication of how many hardcore people are coming.

As far as Viper owners go, I do not know, we will have to see how many have enough sack to show.

(Yes that rhymed)

Thanks again for the great turnout and see you soon.

I just got home from the shop and the car is running great. Tonight was the fifth time I have put my transmission back in over the past two months. I have had to deal with some transmission problem including twice braking the second gear sprag, mystery valve body problems and destroying a converter. I guess that is the price we pay to go fast.

I will be at the test and tune tomorrow to shake the bugs out and to do some NOS testing. I expect everything to go well and I hope to put down some big numbers Saturday.

Don't worry I already thought about it before I posted this. But I think there are some radial cars that could cover you anyway.
