Need Info

Hi, looks like you've got a nice site here and I think I've finally found the place I've been looking for...Info on where the areas muscle car owners meet.

After several years of trailering my 1970 Z/28, polishing it, showing it, winning awards with it, etc, etc I've decided to do the unthinkable...DRIVE IT! Well, maybe not much but at least get it out once in a while for a little fun.

Anyhow, my question is where do the local Muscle cars hang out? Is there even a regular place at all? I've read something about Wendy's which is real close to me (Countryside), but the turnout sounds low. I have friends in some places (AZ/PA/IL) where 200-300 cars show up every weekend..Yenkos/Hemis/you name it..Is there something like that in the Tampabay area?

Thanks in advance for any input. Hopefully I will get to meet some of you in the future.

Tom

Best I could think of to offer (even though its not really close to you) is Biff Burger in St. Pete. They usually have a good turn out.

Pinellas Park Burger King on US19 is a small show but have some nice cars. It's Saturday night starts about 6 PM to about 10 PM. Pick up a "Cruisin Times" magazine. It will list all the cars shows. I'm not sure if they have a website.

Biff's has an excellent turn out from what I hear. Where in Countryside are you? I'm also in Countryside, maybe you've seen my silver/black '67 SS cruising around?

Thanks for the ideas.

Cruising Times?..Never heard of it before. Where do you find them?

Frank, I'm just a few blocks south of Curlew off Countryside. I haven't seen yours that I recall but I just moved up here about 4 months ago. I have seen what looks to be a beautiful Lemans blue 68 SS.

Biff's is too far away unless I trailer. Burger King is probably about the far limit of what I can drive and still live with myself.hehe.

I think I will try to hit the Wendys up here in the nest few weeks or so. My schedule isn't real predictable so I can say for sure which week it will be.

Thanks guys.

I'm 2 blocks south of Curlew myself. We should both saddle up and drive our baby bitches down to Biff's one night. It's really not that far.

Frank, you and I must live within just a couple of blocks from one another. Small world, huh?

Before I venture to Biff's I think I may need to make some changes to the car. For starters, it's wearing polyglass tires
and let me tell ya, they outlawed these tires for a reason! I've also got original spiral shocks and 1 mile in my car will clearly demonstrate the advancements in modern technology..haha

Do you do Wendys or BK? Or since you have a camaro is there some type of camaro club around here? The ACA is huge in the midwest but I haven't heard anything about them down here. I see the World Camaro Assoc is up around Orlando. I need to talk to them anyway because I'm thinking about doing the Winter Nationals next Feb.

Anyway, we're so close we should get together cuz I'd like to see your car. As a kid about 3 million years ago my best friend had a 67 rs. I've loved the 67's since. I tried to post a few pics of my car in the gallery but I'm anti-computer literate so I dont know if they made it or not.

Sometimes I do Wendy's. Never done the BK show, but that's still a pretty good haul down 19. I don't really do car clubs, so I have no idea what's going on with a Camaro club.

Hell, my car still has monoleafs and BFG radials. I drive it all over the place!

We should get together sometime, as long as you don't mind hanging out with a punk 23 year old kid.

23 is fine, lol!... It's good to know some guys your age for when I need some muscle. You know how to replace shocks by any chance?..j/k

Yes, we will get together and maybe I'll let you talk me into a run to Biff's just for the hell of it. Someday you'll understand. It's hard for me to believe that I used to drive a 70z as my daily car 25 years ago. Christ, when I was about your age I thought nothing of driving a 69 Camaro about 60 miles to the nearest strip and it had a tube frame, narrowed rear end and aluminum floors that got so hot from the headers that I had to wear boots because my tennis shoes would get so warm they would leave big chunks of tread on the gas pedal.

I should have the car road ready in about 2 weeks I think. I'm debating how much stuff I want to pull off first.

Well I've got a couple more minutes . And I checked the gallery, they posted, Nice!

The Wendy's show isn't really that bad. It just starts early and we aren't able to make it in time. So by the time we get there, it is usually starting to clear out. But it fills the Wendys parking lot and the parking lot behind it. It gets a variety of cars in there. It's not a large as the Burger King show though.

The Wendys show is on Fridays and the Burger King show is every Sat. The BK isn't really that far and is worth the drive I think. We're in Clearwater. They have music and a large turnout. There's also Quaker Steak and Lube that has a show every 4th Sunday of the month. It's right around the corner from BK.

If your looking for 100's then you should hit Plant City. I've never been, but from what others have said it's great. It's Downtown and every 3rd Sat. of the month.

It's funny you ask about all this now, I've got something in the works and w/ some help, and if it's possible, we may have a great addition coming to the forum in the future.

74Javelin: You and I might have alot in common. At the same time I had my zee I also had a 69 AMX (343/4 spd). That car only had about 30k miles at the time and this was 79-80, something like that. A friend of mine was big into AMX's/Javelin's and he had a few that screamed. He also had a Rebel Machine(?). Had 2 big honking hood scoops and a hood tach, plus a rear wing I think, all painted red, white and blue. It was a spectacale but it hualed ass completely stock. I still have pictures I'll try to remember and bring them to Wendys if you go there.

HerHotRod: I like the sound of that tease. Btw, is the Wendy's thing kid friendly? Doesn't really matter but my 7yr old daughter would probably love to come..gotta like a girl who likes the sound of hi compression/cammed out/solid lifter horsepower, right?

Frank: Thanks for the compliment. I will definately have you over to the house for a look at your car if I don't see you at Wendy's. I keep telling my wife I'm gonna go out on McMullen Booth about 3am one night and just raise hell. Maybe you want to come too

I'll let you guys know as soon as I have more details, but there's good things in the works!

And most definately the Wendy's show is kid friendly. The couple times we have been there it seems very family oriented. It's the typical bring a chair and relax atmoshphere. Same w/ the BK show.

Thats great your daughter is into it too. My dad had a 69 Chevelle w/ a 454 a 400 tranny in the garage when I was around 12. He was selling the Chevelle and I told him to keep the motor and tranny for me . He told me I wouldn't have anything to put it in. Sure enough, my first car was my 71 Chevelle and I've had it 12 yrs now. I remind him of that all the time . It's been great though becuase it gave me and my dad time to spend together building it when I was in shcool. The memorries are irreplaceable. He's either worked or owned just about everything and he's taught me so much. (He's got a 72 Monte now).

By the way, is yours a split bumper? Can't tell from the picture.
