wtb 12 bolt chevy rearend

just like the title says, need a 12 bolt chevy rearend for a 1970 chevelle
i was told that there was 12 bolt in my car when i got it - count the bolts yep 12, but, after breaking the spider shaft and spider gears, took rear end apart - no c clips? figured out how to get the carrier out and axles (was like a ford 9") did some reseach and found out it is a olds/pontiac rear end and can not find any parts for it _ please help - dont even want to fire the rebuilt motor if it wont move on its own. - -whats out there?

you are right on the money. olds 12 bolt has 10 bolt on the ring gear, but 12 on the cover.

and they are difficult to find parts for.

will a carrier or posi unit from a gm 10 bolt work?
Is this rear end worth anything since it is so rare?

just keep looking for a 12 bolt chevy rear.

finding one for a good price in decent shape is difficult...

watch out for camaro/firebird/nova rear as they are for leaf springs, and truck rears too.

also, pre-68 rears were wider. stick with 68-72 A body and you're set.

also, not all of them came posi.

well, you can tell a 12 bolt olds from a 12 bolt chevy by the cover on the outside.
